I was one of those "why are Dems caving?" complainers. I will be so, so, SO happy to be proven wrong!!!!

Or, looked at the House budget reconciliation bill which we saw a unanimous Dem minority party vote against the republican majority.

When they start seeing a lot more of this instead of lectures from leadership about too many phone calls and how they can't do anything because they're in the minority. Yeah we know. Use all the tools you can then be loud about it whip all your members to vote against the condemnation of the one member who had an effective protest against the Trump propaganda show and organize a united one next time.
Doing the everyday legislative work isn't enough if you can't find ways to let people know about it.

They didn't have shit to run with on that report and buried the lede which said a decision hadn't been made.

There was a caucus meeting and a decision was made.

None of that occurred in the minds of Hill editors who gaslighted people here today. They just wanted the clickbait which was win-win for them.

Before the vote last night, many thought that if Democrats in the House were united and got few defections, then the Senate was fairly likely to stand strong and vote against it as well. A bunch of Hose Democrats voting for it would have made it harder for Senate Dems to justify voting against it. So for all the heat Jeffries has taken here recently, he deserves big kudos for holding his caucus together on this (with only 1 defection which ended up not making a difference). That said, the Phone Calls certainly couldn't have hurt and may have helped allay the concerns of a few who were the most likely to be wavering.

When I heard he would support it, I flipped. There is no point in keeping the government open if it is only going to harm people anyways, especially those who would be harmed by a shutdown. We need Dems to fight this Admin tooth and nail

I hate to see a shutdown, however brief. They are so disruptive and stressful for everyone. But I'd hate to see this bill get through Congress as I understand it's written. It seems like there are a number of poison pills in it like cutting DC's budget by $1B with 6 months to go in the FY.

Also I heard Thune earlier today talking about how this is all the Democrats' fault. What the Actual F??? R's control the House, the Senate AND the White House so no farkin' way is this anyone's fault but theirs. I try not to actually hate anyone but damn they make it hard.

I read that Dems want a vote on Sen. Patty Murray’s CR - a vote that will ultimately fail. Once it does, supposedly Dems will be able to vote for the House CR because Dems are just wanting a vote on a different CR.

If they tried this BS I think that would be worse than just voting for the original CR.

I think Senate Dems are playing with fire here. Trump and Musk want a government shutdown, and this is going to help tank the economy even faster.
