I will go to my grave not understanding

how anyone could prefer an ignorant, incoherent, babbling idiot spouting gibberish, who is only out to enrich himself, over an intelligent and articulate woman who would've worked tirelessly to make their lives better.

It boggles the mind.

I know we live in a racist and sexist country but this is beyond the pale. it makes absolutely no sense.

remember at the rally where Trump stated several times that "I love the un-educated".

But the biggest thing is how lazy a lot of people are, and want information spoon fed to them.

And Fox News, RW Radio, and Rush Limbaugh knew that, and performed magnificently at delivering it to them.

The RepubliCONs Also knew to go after a huge segment that were part of an existing flock that had a need to follow without thinking...............The evangelicals and Religious fanatics.

It didn't just happen, it was all a part of a Republican Psy-ops operation......

If you wonder why so much of what they are doing is similar if not exactly the same as Hitler and Naziz.......IT IS

That is just a better talking point than advocating for controlling the sexual behavior of women and protecting the rights of men to have their way with women. Having grown up in Mississippi and seen the sexual abuse of women when totally controlled by theats of reputation, morality and loss of a future, I know how a society can make the threat of rape a mind-destroying total imprisionment without bars for women, while ignoring men who rape of their own children. Despite the stories from women who grew up in the 50s, I never once saw a man questioned, much less prosecuted, for abuse of his daughter or granddaughter but I saw many a woman shunned for sexual behavor with a boyfriend. Even the rapist would call the raped names like slut and whore. That made it all OK.

I'm don't have a college degree, yet even I could see the terrible threats from a group that is authoritarian and wants to establish a theocratic dictatorship. But, it appears like that is too arcane of a principle for a large number of people to grasp.
I know that the election was not really about the price of eggs, but how do we get the unengaged to see that their welfare depends on being informed and just plain showing up by voting?

Had nothing to do with race or ethnicity, had nothing to do with sexism or "hatred", my folks lost money under Biden and they wanted him gone because they wanted their money back.

Wanna know what? They got what they wanted. They were tied up in the DOW, and they rode the rebound off the 500 point swing, sold, and won't ever have to worry about money again.

It sucks. It sucks to know that my folks voted for the felon, but they voted in their interests and they're profiting. And they'll vote for him a third time if given the opportunity, despite my protestations. According to them, they're secure now, and they've also secured MY future regardless of where that security comes from.

It has nothing t o do with racism, sexism, or any other ism. Money talks. Other bullshit walks. It's that simple, and if someone can't or refuses to understand that, well... Not much anyone anywhere can do.

It's brutal, but the people that voted for him, at least some of them, got what they wanted. And they'll vote for him again. Something we all need to be prepared for.

Sun Mar 16, 2025, 07:23 PM

It is the end result of what began in 1980 with the coming of the sainted Ronny. He started the Biggest of the Big Lies. He said that if you had problems, it was the fault of your government. The government was the enemy. He said that if you wanted your problems to go away and enter into heaven on earth, make your government go away. Of course that doesn't include the parts that keep rich people safe and comfortable.

Rinse and repeat relentlessly for 45 years. Add in a shrinking government commitment to financial support for all levels levels of education (adios Dept. of Ed.) which has resulted in an inferior quality of education and the simultaneous creation of a class of indebted collage graduates. You end up with a huge number of poorly educated people that have never learned how to reason and think for themselves. They don't have the ability to tell fact from propaganda. Echo and amplify the lies endlessly in the right-wing media sphere.

Add in a massive disparity between the super haves and the mostly have nots. The roots of that disparity can be traced directly to Ronny's other Big Lie, known as Trickle Down, or make the richer richer and they might occasionally throw you a bone. The end result is a serious hollowing out of the middle class and the creation of multi-generations of frustrated and bitter people.

Eventually a demagogue shows up and promises a golden age, and all of your enemies will be vanquished. Trump is truly the greatest con artist of all time. He recognized that the there was a large number of poorly educated and/or naive people that would buy into (literally) his big con. He rallied a large base while the opposition couldn't get its act together. No one can say that he didn't tell everyone who he was. The true believers loved him for it. The truly naive wanted change, but didn't believe him. On election day the MAGAts showed up and voted. And the truly naive on the opposition side also didn't believe him. They stayed home, nursed their petty grievances, while ignoring the onrushing disaster, and gave us Trump.

This is the result of a long term plan by the financial backers of the Republican party. First they put enough idiots in both houses of congress to establish control even when in the minority. Then they straight up bought SCOTUS. Finally, they hired Trump to administer the coup-de-grace to the administrative state. The Democrats never did see the threat clearly. Many still don't.

Effectively the super rich were able to buy the U.S. government lock, stock and barrel at a bargain basement price.
