I was just speaking with my mail carrier. We are in Philadelphia PA. He said DOGE wants to cut 48 hours out of his one small post office which was understaffed to begin with. That is six people losing their jobs in South Philadelphia. And thats happening all over the city and all over the country probably to a greater extent.

(5,012 posts)I had booked an Airbnb in Toronto for this August and just tried to cancel it but the fkers were going to keep my $200++ deposit. Whaddabunchabullshit! I have had hosts cancel on me for no reason which left me scrambling to find an alternative. Hotels don't do that. I will NEVER use Airbnb again and I travel a lot.

(325 posts)Im pretty much always online on DU at least once a day since God knows how long. But I dont always sign in which probably isnt good, and I almost never post because its just an echo chamber for the most part. There is no link because it what is an actual conversation between me and my mailman this morning. There is going to be a protest and he told me the dates and I forgot them but when I find out what they are again I will post them. The reason I dont post a lot is because years ago I got freaked out when one of my posts ended up on the right wing site about some Judge died.

Tried to talk to the local postmistress about it. "Well there is a lot of fraud and waste" she says.

In every poll the USPS is at or near the top of popular public service.
The reality was that Nixon heard a lot about undelivered bills and worse unpaid bills from the capitalists.
Unfortunately for the bosses bills were sent by snail=mail not "on line".
Fortunately for workers a lot of us were students trying to pay for college by working the swing shift (3pm -12pm) so we go to classes.

(17,398 posts)I get my mail a day or two late. It shows up in my informed delivery, but it isnt in my P.O. Box until a day or two later. Our local office usually has one or two clerks and one is usually busy with passports. What gets me is its a fairly busy PO. They always used to have two-three clerks until about five years ago.
