(9,745 posts)I'm still glad he's on our side, but he's too conservative for me as president. We're going to need someone willing to make some changes to the constitution....or get the country on that path to right some wrongs that the republicans have helped us discover through their insidiousness....and I am not confident he's either bold enough nor charismatic enough to lead that charge.
Random Boomer
(4,382 posts)Congress proposes the changes and states vote on them. Getting 2/3 consensus on any constitutional changes, in this political landscape, is highly unlikely.

(1,461 posts)He wasn't stupid enough to vote for the draconian repug Cr to "keep the trains running on time" like 10 of his colleagues were. He's excellent on women's rights workers rights, rights for the rest of the dem base, gun control the environment etc. I know that he has the best interests of the people of my state as well as the American people as a whole at heart. No oneshould doubt that.

Plus, charging at home is a thing. I'm sure Sen Kelly already has a charger for that Tesla he can use.

(1,568 posts)Gave it to my SIL at 298,000 miles. He wrecked it on a racing track. I cried.
The key: regular oil an lube, especially rear end. Brakes, tires and alignments were the only problems until 140,000 miles. Then timing chain and belts. Otherwise, NP Loved the roominess, turning ratio, and comfort. I had a ton of offers to buy but would never sell. Best kept secret was that she sat on a Caddy chassis.

(6,152 posts)He was not impressed and referred to it in his column as the Roadmonster. Odd thing was, it was his last column for that particular newspaper chain. (I dunno, maybe someone in high echelons complained). IIRC his name was Ted Laturnous or some such.

(24,240 posts)(love him) and many Tesla owners are environmentalists or just flat out progressives who bought their cars before the current madness. I bear them no ill will. But for those of us paying attention here in Silicon Valley for the past ten years or longer, the signs of Musk's true leanings have been apparent. He was union buster who broke the union at the factory that produced Teslaa in Fremont, CA many years ago. That was even before trump's first term I think.

(15,977 posts)American made EV. US unionized auto makers were not making full EVs. And Elon wasn't f'ing with our government.

(6,043 posts)A year later sold it for $25 so I could move up to a $50 1956 Ford. Never paid more than $2400 for a vehicle until 1983. It helped back then that most of us could fix em.

(16,967 posts)But I do not understand why you EVER bought a Tesla in the first place. GM Cars are all that I drive, and my track record with them is amazing. I've never understood the complaints that I've heard about them. Most complaints that *I* have come across have been from people who didn't do simple maintenance, etc. and then got mad when something happened.
Glad to see you supporting Chevy!

(11,005 posts)Had 30,000 miles on it, and I paid under $16,000. Original warranty is still in effect for almost two years. Mine rolled off the assembly line in October of 2023, so it was probably in the last batch that was built.
Hertz just released a lot more Bolts for sale, and it looks like they saved the best for last. Mileage in the 15,000 range.
Forgot to add that it is such a fun car to drive. Hoping this will be the last car I own. I think it will end up being my favorite of all the cars I've owned over the years.

In a video posted Sunday to the social platform X, which Musk owns, Kelly showed off what he called his new ride while standing next to a Chevy Tahoe SUV in Washington.
Got one of these in Tuscon as well. This one was made by union labor, United Auto Workers in Arlington, Texas. Always good to buy union cars, incredibly reliable, Kelly said in the video. And Im looking forward to driving this for many, many years.
It came just two days after he said he would look for a new ride since his Tesla was built and designed by an ahole.
Every time I get in this car in the last 60 days or so, it reminds me of just how much Elon Musk and Donald Trump is doing to our country, he said in a video last Friday.
