MeidasTouch - Trump and Musk's New Corruption Scandal: DOGE is a Scheme to Gut Social Security

Social Security is wildly popular, which is why Trump repeatedly promised voters he’d “protect” it. But now that Trump’s in power, he’s allowing Musk—who calls the program a “Ponzi scheme”—to cripple Social Security and move its benefits out of reach for an untold number of seniors and disabled Americans.

On Tuesday, I wrote about how Trump and Musk’s severe cuts to Social Security, and their illegal accessing of Americans’ sensitive Social Security data, are major liabilities for Republicans.

Like the Washington Post has covered, Social Security is “breaking down.” Because the richest man in the world is causing “long waits, waves of calls,” and “website crashes” as he races to slash the critical retirement security program—just so Republicans can instead use those funds on tax handouts for the wealthy.

I made the point that Trump’s attacks on judges are an opportunity to highlight the danger he and Musk pose to Social Security, since a court order is the only reason why DOGE had to stop illegally poring over our private Social Security records—including medical and income data.
