(3,638 posts)This is how you get Martial Law. And then what?
I don't see too many Americans putting up with that. Remember the 2nd amendment? And it won't just be liberals. You can damn well bet that a lot of MAGAs won't like martial law either. Especially after Trump screwed so many of them.

(3,638 posts)conservatives? They literally have been training for a chance to put us under a boot.
This isnt like Covid lockdowns. Theyd happily welcome martial law if it hurt anyone left of centre.

(13,741 posts)Unfortunately the NRA has painted it as being the right of individuals to carry weapons and use them as the need arises.
In fact, it gives States the right to form well-regulated militias to defend against an out-of-control Federal government, and to maintain its status as "a free State." The militia doesn't necessarily have to instigate violence, just a show of strength and a willingness to defend against unconstitutional acts.
bdamomma
(69,259 posts)"well-regulated militias" relates to our States National Guard, they are our "well regulated militias" or am I not correct in my assumption.
AntiFascist
(13,741 posts)so, in the case where a State wants to defend against actions by the Federal military or other Federal agents, it's not clear that the National Guard would be appropriately used. There are other public militia groups that only report to the Governor, and they are typically used to supplement the National Guard, at least from what I know of in California.

(13,003 posts)any reprisal or demonstration that he and his CABAL can use to justify his enabling the "Insurrection Act" to use the U.S. Military to establish Martial Law across the United States. Of course he will be ignoring the "Posse Comotatus Act" which bans the use of the U.S. Military against civilians.

(6,423 posts)I can think of many situations where a group of unidentified individuals claiming to be law enforcement would not only stand out as obvious outsiders but could also put themselves in great danger, depending on the neighborhood and time of day.

(2,353 posts)"Federal officers arrested Ramirez Verduzco last week on immigration-related charges. They argue the native of Mexico does not have authorization to be in the U.S., and returned despite previous deportations. Immigration officials did not know she lived in Michigan until February when she went to local police to report the assault allegation, records show. "
