Do you remember the Shoe Bomber? A few months after 9/11, Richard Reid tried to blow up a plane with shoes full of explosives. The passengers on the plane realized what was happening, and attacked and subdued him. Due to their actions, he’s now rotting in prison.

Elon Musk especially, but also Donald Trump, were not really taken seriously by most Americans. Similar to how most of us didn’t worry that much about “radical Muslim terrorists” before 9/11. How any thinking person could miss how dangerous they are is beyond me, but now, they’re unmasked and we (most of us, anyway) know what they are.
