Number of Americans collecting unemployment benefits highest since late 2021
U.S. stock-market futures hit session lows shortly before the opening bell as investors received the latest weekly update on the number of Americans receiving unemployment benefits.
While the number of Americans applying for first-time benefits fell to a seven-week low, the tally of people continuing to collect hit 1.903 million, the highest number since late 2021.
