Pence said in a statement that he’s “deeply humbled and honored” to get the award.
“I have been inspired by the life and words of President John F. Kennedy since my youth and am honored to join the company of so many distinguished Americans who have received this recognition in the past,” Pence said.
Well-deserved, in my humble opinion.

(4,318 posts)And it took Dan fucking Quayle of all people to finally convince him not to do it.
You’re not a hero nor are you courageous for simply doing your fucking job! He was constitutionally obligated to do what he did.
Liz Cheney, not a hero.
Adam Kinzinger, not a hero.
Mike Pence, not a goddamn hero.

(4,318 posts)He did what he was supposed to do, nothing more, nothing less.
Was Walter Mondale a profile in courage for certifying Captain Jellybean’s election?
Poppy for certifying Clinton’s?
Biden for certifying Obama’s?
No. They simply fulfilled their duties. And without any hemming and hawing or looking for ways not to do it.

(15,205 posts)So yeah, it was his job...but...
Same thing as a combat situation. He was 'under fire' but still did his duty, and yes that took courage. Because he had to have been scared. But he did it anyway.

Either way he's screwed. And he was put in the position through his own dumb decisions.

I’m still going to stand up and point out his Bronze Age bigotry. He said equal marriage would bring about the collapse of civilization. That didn’t happen, but MAGA may succeed at it.
Also, Pence was a disgusting sycophant for the entirety of trump’s term. He was meeting with trump about January 6th until the last possible moment. Some hero, meh.

Doesn't mean I support him or his policies, let alone like him, but in this case he acted with integrity and eve n courage.

Howling mob screaming your name? POTUS egging them on? Hangman’s scaffold and noose standing ready? Secret Service evacuating you and your family — then insisting you get in the car to go God knows where for God knows how long, while you say, “No thanks. Staying here.”
Thanks for your OP, eShirl. The man deserves some measure of thanks, and if it comes from the Kennedy Family, well they would know about political assassination, wouldn’t they?

(175 posts)he did MORE than any other elected Republican in the country. So, he was graded on a Red curve.
Republicans are now rewarded for just not being quite as evil and corrupt as Trump.
