I have to admit as a breaking news event, nothing beats the announcement of a new pope

No advance press releases, no tracking planes, no evidence whatsoever in advance of the announcement. It’s a total surprise to everyone.

I can think of one yet to occur, much less be announced. It will be/is greatly anticipated by billions--especially but not limited to the US-- sad for some, but eliciting a sense of relief for most.

I'll just leave it there...

To overshadow trumps most amazing announcement, biggest ever made in the world, even the part before man, and women, kind.
What a fucking dud of an announcement. Liking this Pope Already, shutting down trump blabbering. Great start.

even impacting people (like myself) who are not Catholic or even Christian. Especially if it turns out as it seems to have that this is a good person. Symbolically it feels like a significant moment--a hopeful, positive development.
