By all accounts Pope Leo XIV is gonna be great and possibly hold the marmalade shartcannon's feet to the fire, BUT...

One question remains, and could be the deal breaker: Was he a White Sox or a Cubs fan?

South Side is usually Sox, North Side the Cubs. I heard he was from the South Side.

far northside here. when they won the series, was outright shocked how many of my neighbors came out of the closet in their sox gear.

Brother answers burning question: Is Pope Leo XIV a Chicago White Sox or Cubs fan?

CHICAGO (WGN) — Almost immediately after Chicago-born Cardinal Robert Prevost’s election as Pope, the question emerged: is the pontiff a fan of the Cubs or the White Sox?

Speaking to WGN on Thursday, Prevost’s brother John answered the burning question: Pope Leo XIV, as Prevost is now known, is a fan of the South Siders.

“He was never, ever a Cubs fan. So I don’t know where that came from. He was always a Sox fan,” John Prevost said.

But the household was split: mom was a Cubs fan and his father was a fan of the St. Louis Cardinals.
