Is Leo the Anti-Trump?

I can't help but read the Vatican message and selection of Pope Leo as a direct counterforce to the age of Trump. Why pick an American now except that America is under assault from profoundly deranged, immoral actors operating under cover of an American government? I hope Leo is brave enough to speak out and denounce the official cruelty of the Trump era. I'm no fan of the Catholic church, but I can recognize the potential of an individual spiritual leader to bulk up a battered America right now, when our own "leader" is the source of endless harm.

perfectly: “a direct counterforce to the age of Trump.” I am feeling that too. Too much worldly angst over one evil American had to be counteracted with a message of peace and hope in the hands of a new Pope.

... probably true - and a good thing. He mentioned building bridges, not walls. I did see an article saying he leaned more progressive, like Francis. He's not going to say oral sex can be a fun method of birth control... but I think we got lucky with this choice.

Like Francis, Leo is representative of liberation theology. This is a good thing.

theologists have been painted with the red brush - they tell the truth and the billionaires and Wall Street greed-freaks just can't handle that truth. But it is.......................truth.

From what I'm seeing and reading, Leo wanted to be a priest since 1st grade, speaks about the poor and workers, has gone out of his way to volunteer for good causes. Trump came from a questionable church, mocks the poor and deceives the workers, doesn't do anything unless it benefits him, and mocks people that serve as suckers and losers. So yes, it seems so.
