Apparently we must now be referred to as United Statesians

Because calling ourselves Americans is offense to everyone else on the North and South American continents.
Saying Leo XIV is the first American Pope, obviously meaning the first from the United States should be discouraged.

I had always heard Canadians hate it when someone calls them an American. But this must not be true, because they are from America don't want people from the US to only use that term.

it’s fair to recognize it’s a bit of a sore point for a lot of people, especially when they feel like the USA has been throwing its weight around. I’ve had friends tell me it seems like we think we’re the only Americans who matter.

In the end, I don’t care and call myself an American.

the only thing most of the world calls us.
I don't care much. But the butthurt on calling Leo the first American Pope is ridiculous.

I've worked in 41 countries & I always got things like "Where in America do you live?, "Were you born in America?", "How do elections work in America?" And, so on. (On the business side "Is your company American?" Or "How many sites do you have in America?&quot
I don't remember anybody ever asking me a question like that where it wasnt't "America". It wasnt the "United States".

But colloquially, every native Spanish speaker I know uses Americano.

Or just gringo, lol.

But if you were ever filling out forms in a Spanish speaking country, go with estadounidense as the formal term.
