Really? It doesn't pay that much, not what you are used to. Moving closer to the center of the shit storm is not going work out well. It is true that decent people probably don't like you, but you will be moving to a short list that decent people want tried in the Hague. It doesn't end well. It can't end well.
If he gets more power you will find yourself in a position more perilous than any we have seen in US history. Ask yourself if you would rather stay in the room or go out into the hall in your personal Downfall Skit. Keep in mind that if you take this position and you don't keep clear records of how you were fighting for the constitution from within, you will have no chance later. If you do keep clear records and your compatriots find them, you will have no chance then.
Keep in mind that you will turn to poop. It is inevitable. It is destiny. When he calls on you, tell him it isn't your specialty and he deserves better. Tell them you have a communicable disease. Tell them anything you can to get out of it.
There you have been warned. If you think there are people who don't like you now, just wait. The other shoe will drop.

(129,046 posts)for which they must know they are unqualified. Is it such an ego trip that they can't resist it, figuring that they wouldn't have been asked if the appointer didn't think they could do the job? But if your job qualifications for US Attorney for D.C. consist of having been a prosecutor 20 years ago, and you've been a cable talk show host ever since, wouldn't you think twice? Wouldn't you say, "Thanks, but sorry; I haven't been an active attorney for 20 years and I think my lack of recent experience would be a problem in this position, so I have to say no"? I sure would. I'd be scared to death to take that job, knowing I was likely to fuck it up, no matter who had offered it to me. If it was Trump who'd made the offer I'd run away screaming. We know what happens to almost everybody who works for Trump, and I wouldn't want to be just another person looking up at the undercarriage of a bus.

Now they are in the real world pretending to be special.
It will not work out for them.
