President Biden Already Got A Bill Passed To Lower Prescription Drugs

It takes effect in 2026. It lowers the prices of 10 common prescription drugs for people on Medicare.

Will whatever Krasnov is coming out with today kill the bill that Biden got passed?

There are ways that drug companies in other countries can get around Krasnov's plan. Krasnov can pick a country that has the lowest costs for prescription drugs, drug companies can raise the prices of drugs in that country to match the US prices and then give rebates.

I worry that what is going on is designed to kill the real reduction in drug prices that President Biden got passed.

If he keeps the peons occupied, he can accept his floating palace without question.

decrease drug prices.

I also think there is a very real possibility that the potential chaos he may be creating in the market will induce shortages which will adversely affect prices also.

Under the planned order, the federal government would tie what it pays pharmaceutical companies for those drugs to the price paid by a group of other, economically advanced countries — the so-called “most favored nation" approach.

The proposal will face fierce opposition from the pharmaceutical industry.

It was a rule that Trump tried to adopt during his first term, but could never get through. He signed a similar executive order in the final weeks of his presidency, but a court order later blocked the rule from going into effect under the Biden administration.

Worth noting: Trump earlier this year rescinded a similar executive order from former President Biden that also aimed to lower prescription drug costs.

Zoom out: Trump is expected to impose tariffs on pharmaceuticals produced overseas in the coming weeks. Experts say such a policy could increase drug costs and exacerbate shortages.
