It appears George Wendt has passed

George Wendt, an American actor and comedian who earned six consecutive Emmy nominations for his performance as Norm Peterson on the beloved NBC comedy series “Cheers,” died Tuesday morning at his home. He was 76.

Wendt’s death was confirmed by his publicist Melissa Nathan with the following statement: “George was a doting family man, a well-loved friend and confidant to all of those lucky enough to have known him. He will be missed forever. The family has requested privacy during this time

I got to meet him at the stage door afterwards (along with Richard Thomas, who had played the lead). He looked mostly dead even then. He definitely didn't look healthy.

Sorry to hear this. He delivered my all-time favorite line in "Cheers".

"Afternoon, everybody!"

"NOOOOORM!"

"What's going on, Mr. Peterson?"

"Let's talk about what's going IN Mr. Peterson..."

It’s a great line made perfect by George Wendt’s delivery.

Great actor in his role of Norm, his fellow actors were spot on, and the writing was
top notch too. Everybody who is born will die because that is the way it is but
this one hurts.
