A very bright lady named Mary McCord is on. She was an Asst. Attorney General under President Obama.
My question was: Does a member of the military have to adhere to the "orders" of 45 (I actually said trump on the phone - normally I refer to him as 45) or are they supposed to keep their oath to the Constitution? I wasn't as articulate as I've been in the past when I've called (and I haven't called in several years) because it's early here and I had just turned on the T.V.
I was the 2nd caller (I think it was around 4:45-5:00 a.m.). She wasn't really able to answer my question but was still quite knowledgeable in general.

(1,617 posts)I'm sure you were more articulate than he was in the most lucid moment of his life.

(2,150 posts)...of the podcast Main Justice, with Andrew Weissmann. They're both excellent, and together, very knowledgeable, down to earth, and even bring a gentle sense of humor to these terrifying times.
Yesterday's episode covered the situation in LA, with certainly more to come as the lawsuit go forward. My guess is that even though she is not expert in the UCMJ (Uniform Code of Military Justice), she and Andrew will delve onto these topics as the summer proceeds.

(2,150 posts)It's a fave of mine - even when I don't understand the intricacies (although they are both gifted instructors), it is calming to understand that people who _do_ get it are doing their best to bring us back to democracy.
It used to be called Prosecuting Donald Trump, but podcast platforms should have updated by now. It is on the MSNBC site, but for some reason they don't have the most recent episodes (out each Tuesday).

(6,197 posts)exciting, as Brian Lamb was hosting. His guest was a woman who represented the oil industry.
I asked her what would happen if a really major oil spill occurred in the Gulf -- who would pay for it. She royally blew me off, replying that the odds of that happening were practically zero -- there were just too many safeguards in place.
I repeated my question about who would pay for it. She assured everyone that the oil companies would pay, but repeated that mine was an absurd query. Ten days later the BP oil spill happened. (Always wondered if she remembered how surly her response to me was.)

(10,033 posts)Since the early 2000's I've called and have gotten on quite a few times. I don't think I was ever fortunate enough to speak when Brian Lamb was on.
That's a total bummer that the guest blew you off but not surprising since she was an Oil Industry supporter...

(10,033 posts)She said she wasn't knowledgeable enough about military law to answer my question (or something like that).
