gotten her out of my life because trump.
Also, I have always said that I believe prosperity follows generosity, (and that is why trump has continued his grifts all these years. He loses it as fast as he makes it). I have wondered why she, in her early 60's with a husband and no kids cannot afford to retire. I don't believe I ever said that specifically to her. But, I know they have done all the stupid trump things - like buying silver, buying those black rocks from Russia to protect against 5G and getting involved with bitcoin. (I have seen all of these things advertised on MAGA shows etc I also saw Ivermectin advertised right next to a Trump advertisement so there is something weird there)
Anyway there was a conversation between her and me recently - after a real falling out when I finally realised that the reason she stopped inviting me for Thanksgiving etc was fuck face trump and she admitted it.
Sooooooo, the last text from her was, "I helped 20 people today. What did you do?" The truth of it is she is a MD and she does acupuncture so she was speaking about people who literally PAID HER for her help. I know people go into fields where they can help people and they really like it but damn, do not tell me that is your frigging charity work!
She makes a very good salary. I don't know now what it is but in general doctors do well.
Anyway, that's it. If someone has experienced something similar I would love to know.

(14,256 posts)A rich man goes to Heaven and St. Asks him, what were your charitable acts?
The rich man says I gave a penny here and I gave a penny there.
St. Peter said, Take your two cents and go to Hell.

And much like here, theres a difference between them and the people who have degrees in Chinese medicine, acupuncture, etc.
And its kind of strange to assume that the Chinese (really?) are healthier because theyre all using the same approach.

(10,270 posts)It definitely works. Medicare covers it now for lower back pain. The practitioner has to be under the supervision of an MD. Or I guess be one.

(624 posts)A DO who used acupuncture alongside more common western treatments would not surprise me.
According to my MD here in Rwanda who got his degree from a western medical school in China, TCM (Traditional Chinese Medicine) was a required part of the western medicine curriculum at his school.
There are TCM medical schools and departments in many large hospitals in China.
I have never had acupuncture or TCM and have no personal opinion on its efficacy.

(10,270 posts)she cant afford to retire? Thats
.weird. Anyway she sounds insufferable. The response that comes to mind is I did my job, same as you.
But no response is an excellent response

(418 posts)It's kind of like a turd in the swimming pool. A little bit of shitty makes a lot of something nice not nice anymore. And standing with the racist bigoted hateful people who want to hurt about half our country and every foreigner they can get ahold of... is so shitty.

(16,823 posts)Cut her out of your life. There's enough negativity to deal with already, then to have to put up with intentionally cruel people like that?
Do yourself a favor and be dine with her.

(78,815 posts)I come from a fairly large extended family. My father was one of 14 siblings. My mother had 4 siblings. Hence, I have a lot of cousins. A heck of a lot, in fact. A total of three cousins are maga. I stay in touch with two of them, on good terms. We just don't talk about politics. The third one I just avoid. She has lived a pampered life, and has always been a spoiled brat. The last time we spoke was in the felon's first term. She attempted to take maga positions, and in surprisingly self-confident manner, considering she is not that bright. I hurt her feelings, not by attacking her, but simply telling how much of a creep the felon is.

(18,903 posts)But it is pretty on brand for a MAGAt to classify defrauding someone as helping them.
And if she is a 5G-bogeyman dumbass, she's gonna have to engage some industrial grade cognitive dissonance to deal with these new "Trump phones" that are apparently the hellspawn clan's newest grift.
