It was the most diverse place I've ever lived and probably the most comfortable community that I can recall. Quite a few people that I worked with were immigrants, many of them students. I find myself wondering if they're okay right now.

This seems like the bad guys aren’t government agents at all, but thugs working for private contractors hired by ICE. “Arm’s Length” they call it, so that when the body count starts, not one actual government employee will have been guilty of anything, or even traceable to the perps. The only guilty parties will be the ones who defend themselves against these hired gangsters unless they get confronted by groups in numbers far superior to their own, and armed with weapons they are equally adept at both using and not using unless absolutely necessary for self defense.

Take down a few groups of these thugs, unmask them, charge them with assault and kidnapping, with film evidence to back it up. They will have no written orders on them, no warrants, no solid proof that they are anything other than criminals working for a criminal organization. They carry no government ID, not to protect their identities, but, to my way of thinking, because they have no goverbment ID. They collect their pay quietly (cash?), and vanish back into obscurity. Eventually, someone will crack, testify, and then let the round of prosecutions start: Watergate II.
