I would think the main goal of the regime is to simply survive. The Iranian people may decide to take matters into their own hands, it’s been bubbling for quite a while now.

The actual problems are the erosion of legal authorities surrounding use of force, nuclear material in the wild, and just a continuous drag on US resources because this won’t solve anything.
