There is another reason, IMO. Iran's hypersonic missiles were getting through Israel's air defenses. The Iron Dome is best at shooting down drones and lower, slower missiles. Its air defense system that could shoot down hypersonic missiles was becoming depleted, that's why the US had to intervene and help shoot down those missiles.
