Trump and Iran

I don't know jack about Iran or Iran's nuclear status quo and don't know enough to have an opinion on the potential consequences of Trump's recent attack on Iran nuclear facilities. But, I do know something about Trump.

He is transactional...never does anything without an expectation of getting something in return...for him. Two weeks ago, he was against Bibi attacking Iran, then wanted some of the glory when Bibi made an attack. What was that about? Staying on Bibi's good side or just keeping his name the top daily breaking news bites.

Gabbard said the 'intelligence' didn't support Iran's near ready position to build a bomb. Trump said she was wrong. Trump can't comprehend intelligence reports so who's feeding him better intelligence that Gabbard? Or maybe...

It was based on “a feeling” the president had as he realized diplomacy would not lead to an acceptable outcome.

Whatever drove Trump to the decision, it wasn't to 'make America great' or for that matter, make the world a safer place.

1. Also he flat out admitted to ignoring the professional intelligence assessments.

Which is an admission that whatever reasons he gave for what he did were lies.

Correct.

It likely started with Trump’s racist obsession with President Obama, during whose administration the 2015 JCPOA accord was codified – Trump’s withdraw from the treaty eliminated President Obama’s accomplishment.

5. After the weakness and humiliation he showed at both the parade and G7, he wants to look tough.

to fucking knock it off. The world needs a break from this religious insanity. Religious people need to fucking grow up, and stop acting like APES.

7. Trump hoped for a "rah rah rally round the flag!" reaction from the American people,

who tend to rally around the President in times of war....

But he has miscalculated the reaction of his own base,
who are mostly very much opposed to any more foreign war actions at this time....

His poll ratings are sure to tank even further, than they have already...

("when you've lost Marjorie Taylor Green and Tucker Carlson...." )

Except for ONE thing. Trump's little boondoggle revealed the attack profile of the US B2 fleet. Sure, the Iranians didn't fire a shot... This time. But, rest assured they had every Russian and Chinese made sensor they could muster trained on those bombers as they made deep holes in the desert.

There will be very accurate shots fired in the future.
