If I had to guess the identity of anyone giving the Iranians advance notice, I would suspect either someone in the Defense Department or one of our “intelligence” services. My suspicion is that if the Iranians start screwing around with all that gulf oil, it's going to push the price back up, and Russia benefits hugely, as they were looking to be in serious trouble.

There doesn't appear to be any other major beneficiary from this stupid act.

If this turns out to indeed have been more for show than anything else, and Iran suffered no truly crippling damage, the Israelis, many if whom are hardened cynics at this point, will figure that the whole exercise was more for Trump’s entertainment than anything else. Maybe to make up for a parade that was such a sham that even Trump was able to figure it out.
