(10,089 posts)...especially if it comes at the expense of more reliable voters that can be counted on.
I know it's a crazy idea, but hear me out: how about putting forth candidates that appeal to the most voters and can get the most votes? Which is what the primary process is for...But a certain segment of the left seems to think that the dastardly DNC is """rigging""" everything against them, even though time and time again there are examples -- like last night in NYC -- of their candidates winning. When their candidates lose, it ain't because of DNC """rigging""" -- it's because they are usually flawed candidates who do not have the support that other candidates have.
If your preferred candidate can't make it through the primary and earn the support of a majority of Democratic voters, odds are they have no chance in hell of winning the general election.

(61,033 posts)we can pull some white males over to our side. Pritzker, Bashear, Kelly, Moore and others come to mind.
trumps numbers are cratering as inflation rises, not to mention the Iran bombing, and if we take the House back in 2026, he won't be able to keep up his insane wannabe dictator bullshit.
I'm optimistic about our chances for '26 and '28. If we had had the right, and I have to say it, the right and younger male candidate in '24 with a standard two-year long campaign, we'd have wiped the floor with the insurrectionist found guilty of 34 felon counts and of being an adjudicated rapist who rescinded abortion rights for women.
It's pretty obvious America is not ready to elect a woman president...Hillary and Harris showed that as both ran good campaigns Comey torpedoed Hillary and Joe has the age disadvantage and never should've run for reelection.
That's the point.

And the guy in the frame HERE - was certainly no peach.
Not going to shed big tears with this - because another fairly crap 'progressive' candidate - once more loses the popular vote ... (to another decidedly so-so candidate who also carried considerable baggage!)

Edit: and according to more recent - and probably more accurate - posts, those awful 'corporate Democrats' have in fact NOT torpedoed this man's campaign - and he is actually (for good or ill) showing a significant first round victory this evening.
Making both my, and the OP, post - both factually incorrect, and 100% irrelevant. So, have a nice day! And in the words of Gilda R, "Nevermind!"

(124 posts)But he's not the candidate to wave the flag of a new generation his baggage makes him a liability in the wider electorate truthfully there's not a good democrat in the mayoral race. So the party is saying better the devil we know that may have a chance at winning than someone who may hinder the chances of electing a democratic mayor.

(57,401 posts)Intifada means uprising.
Nanjeanne
(6,511 posts)To me, ultimately, what I hear in so many is a desperate desire for equality and equal rights in standing up for Palestinian human rights, Mamdani said on The Bulwark last week when asked about the phrase. The very word [intifada] has been used by the Holocaust Museum when translating the Warsaw Ghetto Uprising into Arabic, because its a word that means struggle.
The word intifada directly translates to shaking off. Palestinians have launched two intifadas against Israel and its military occupation the First Intifada, beginning in 1987, was marked by widespread Palestinian protests. During the Second Intifada, beginning in 2000, Palestinian militants conducted suicide bombings targeting Israeli civilians on public buses, restaurants and shopping and pedestrian malls. In response, Israel carried out fierce military reprisals.
Mamdanis defense of the term which many Jews see as a call to globalize violence perpetrated against Israeli Jews in the Second Intifada was condemned by Jewish leaders.
The United States Holocaust Memorial Museum issued a statement calling Mamdanis invocation of the Holocaust outrageous and especially offensive to survivors. A web archive shows the museum did use the word in an online article about the Warsaw Ghetto Uprising that was translated into Arabic.
After the interview, Mamdani released a statement further explaining his position:
As the highest profile Muslim candidate in NY history, I feel an obligation to speak out against violence and against bad faith or misinformed efforts to manipulate language in ways that only contribute to the division were seeking to overcome, he said. Ive repeatedly condemned any calls for violence.
Mamdani added Friday that globalize the intifada is not the language that I use, but added the role of the mayor is not to police language.

So, if you like yourself some clever rhetoric and smarmy political double speak ... Step right up!
Oh, and, "river to the sea" - doesn't really mean, what it has always meant to people that coined the term .... Because - " 'words' - what do they really mean anyway .. ?"

(57,401 posts)Your claim that you are the only one operating based on facts doesn't mean much without evidence. You could post some tweets yourself. You make a point, then it's incumbent on you to provide evidence to support that point--not expecting someone to go find tweets that bothered you.
I've read plenty of went Hogg says. I haven't seen anything close to "burn it all down." I see someone who wants the party to evolve so it can actually win. Then I see those who want incumbents to serve for life without ever being subject to a democratic challenger in a primary. They are intent on maintaining the status quo, which means to continue losing. Some are happy with a party with a 26% approval rating. That's not a rational position. Moreover, it doesn't seem to matter what those who don't want change think. Voters have chosen to exercise their own views. It's clear that voters will determine the future of the party.
