About 60% of white men and 51% of white women (most of the big gains were with minorities) but because white (non-hispanic) makes up about about 68% of voters - those are big numbers.

In Texas the White/Hispanic populations are close to equal but the issue here is the largest percent of eligible voters in the state did not vote.

edit - actually, most white people prior to the civil rights act were Democrats. That changed everything.

on the "dependable" Latino vote. As I've stated numerous time here on DU, one issue is that few white Democrats even bother - to this day - to learn Spanish. Beto was an exception - but he had other liabilities that we needn't go into. We need more sincere outreach to Latinos focusing not only on
the undocumented, but successful Latino business people and professionals. Simply the EFFORT to learn a few Spanish phrases would really help to humanize candidates and evidences a respect for the culture.

Falling in Target without breaking my fall, it was terrible, I ended up spending a week in the hospital after surgery and three more weeks in a nursing facility for rehab.

The first day or two that I was there I was in a lot of pain, scared, etc., and annoyed that most of the people around me had such heavy accents that I couldn’t understand them. It took me only halfway into the second day to realize that they knew 2 languages and I only knew one, and I was the problem, I tried to learn Spanish from that point on.

I live in Texas and you can't fail to pick up some Spanish unless you just don't give shit. I don't know why even many white Democrats in the Texas legislature don't adequately speak it. Norteño culture is fascinating.Speaking just a little Spanish would definitely help with outreach and approach-ability. It's not a very difficult language to pick up for English speakers.

That many Hispanic men just won't vote for a woman. It's cultural sexism.
