His voters hear this rambling from a few minutes ago and hear something appealing:
"I oppose somebody, and for some reason the voters almost always seem to go along with me, because they know I'm working hard. I have a nice high IQ. They like that, you know? We like high IQ people...that's why we have the hat. 'Trump was right about everything.'"
His voters think this is how high IQ people talk. They hear him saying he is high IQ and they accept it. They don't need facts, or evidence. They want it simple. They want to be on the side of high IQ people and they really believe that supporting him is doing that.
I use this example to frame the argument, which did not originate with me, that ordinary responses full of facts and figures and ideas will not work with these people. Some of them we will never reach. But if we can scrape off just a few by using much more simple and blunt language that would be enough. He has never had the support of the majority.

(5,026 posts)(Support for his actions, they are hardly worthy of being called policies, among Republicans is usually about 80%. Immediately after the failed coup attempt his support dropped into the 40's. But when it became apparent that he would not be held personally responsible the support went back to around 80%).
Authoritarians do not navigate reality based on facts and logic, they use their beliefs. And any facts which contradict their belief system bounce off.
About 20% of Republicans are authoritarian leaders. They will go along with an authoritarian Strong Leader like Trump if that is what is necessary to keep them in power. But until they believe that supporting Trump damages them personally they will go along.
There are is one-third of the electorate who couldn't be bothered to vote because they are still getting their hamberders and sportsball. Some of these will wake up as things go bad under Trump. Hopefully enough of them in strategic voting districts can be educated and motivated to counter the Republican gerrymandering and disenfranchisement which are being ramped up.

(24,247 posts)I never and I mean never voluntarily listen to him. The above quote was in a post on bluesky. That's the only way I ever learn about what he "says."

(371 posts)to have to happen to the grifters supporters. This one grave incidence must be directly attributed back to Krasnov. You can't break years of Faux Entertainment's indoctrination, with a couple of facts and explanations. My M-i-L told me this several decades ago: Ignorant understands ignorant! And damn it to hell, it really is true.
