I grew up in New Orleans, and my family has been there for generations and is still there. I have personally experienced this! Twisters came and twisted and snapped off full grown trees at midsection right outside our front door during hurricane Betsy. We lost the most wonderful hard shell pecan tree, but at least it didn't land on our house. We also lost two more trees that way and Dad had to use a chainsaw to cut them so we could get out our front door. Hurricanes are truly a nasty piece of work. These poor souls will not survive them.

This is a pattern that was followed in Nazi Germany. Demonize a target group that most people won't defend. Paint them as criminals who need to be treated roughly. Raise the restrictions on those people incrementally so that they and the general population get desensitized to the injustice. Then expand the target to other groups, including political dissidents.
