Their moderates are better than our moderates
They got their moderates, Lisa Murkowski and blue-state House Republicans, to agree to vote for a bill that was more radical than what Trump even proposed.
We all know Trump is not a policy person. He doesn't care about the details of his tax cuts bill, he just wants them to pass a bill and he'll sign it. Republicans could have passed tax cuts with Medicaid-for-all, instead of Medicaid cuts, and I'm confident Trump would have signed it.
They got their moderates to repeal one of the biggest pieces of industrial policy that brought manufacturing jobs to red states and red districts. Not only are they stripping Medicaid from their constituents, they are stripping policy that brought jobs and investments to their districts. We couldn't even get our moderates to repeal a tiny little bit of the Trump 2017 tax cuts.
They got their moderates to vote for historic food stamp and Medicaid cuts. We struggled to get our moderates to increase the child tax credit past a year.
They get their moderates to pass the most unpopular shit that could tank their politcal career (looking at Thom Tillis), and our moderates won't even pass popular shit that would get them re-elected.
Lisa Murkowski showed that she could be bought with carve-outs, exemptions and extra shit for Alaska. We could have offered to pave West Virginia's streets in gold and give him all the oil and gas projects and permitting reform he wanted, and Joe Manchin wasn't budging on the more popular agenda items.
Our two Senate moderates literally told us they won't support anything that doesn't get Republican support. I don't hear any similar demands from their moderates.
