Trump's Brazen New Lie Leads To Instant Fact-Check On Social Media

President Donald Trump on Friday made a wild new claim about wind power as he renewed his attacks on renewable energy.

Trump complained that many of the components used in wind turbines are made in China, then suggested that China itself doesn’t actually use wind turbines.

“I have never seen a wind farm in China,” Trump declared. “Why is that? Somebody check that out.”

In reality, China is far and away the world’s leading producer of wind energy, with more than triple the current U.S. wind capacity.

https://www.yahoo.com/news/trumps-brazen-lie-leads-instant-031110886.html

Trump may or may not be aware of the fact but it doesn't matter. Most MAGAts will believe him.

I will give Trump credit for one thing. He blows so much hot air he could probably power a windmill.

Whether he knows the facts is entirely besides the point because facts and truth matter not a whit to him.

Whatever words come from his mouth or fingers on social media serve his interests in the moment -- what he wants the public to believe.

Trying to keep track of all his false and misleading statements is exhaustive, which is part of the strategy. Flood the zone with so much shit to overwhelm his detractors and to normalize behavior that would have ended the political career of anyone who came before him.

The corporate media is, of course, complicit.

But the the orange idiot complained that the windmills off the coast were “ obscuring the majestic view”.

Scottish officials told him to piss up a rope.

And thus began his long term grudge against wind power..anywhere it exists

A president ranted one day,
That China shuns wind power—no way!
Though facts say he's wrong,
His fans hum along,
While he blusters enough for a bay.

Trump scoffed, “No wind farms in China, you see!”
Though they’ve got more than we’ll ever be.
He spews with a grin,
Hot air by the bin—
Enough to light up D.C. for free.

There was a time (most of his life, probably) when he lied knowingly and didn't care that he was lying. I honestly don't think he even knows the difference any more.

His narcissism is so extreme that he regards himself as the ultimate authority on everything. If an idea pops into his head, it is true to him. I think he actually believes most of the lies he tells, to the extent that he believes anything.

It doesn't matter to him if a lie he tells today contradicts one he told last week, and it doesn't matter if he tells one next week that contradicts both of the previous lies. The combination of towering narcissism and encroaching dementia has rendered him incapable of making those connections.

At this point in time, I think he pretty much just exists in the present moment. Whatever that thing he calls his "very large brain" is telling him at any particular moment is his only reality. I'd bet money that he's reached a stage where concepts like past and future are a meaningless blur to him.

Of course, his faithful cultists still believe everything he says. When he says something that makes no sense even to them, they write it off as a joke. We've reached a point where different groups of people in this country don't just have differing opinions; we can't even all agree on what the actual FACTS are. Those of us who believe in fact-based reality are at a disadvantage trying to deal with people whose "reality" is based on "alternative" facts."

As to what to take from it, I just think that the MAGA crowd is living in an alternate reality of sorts, based on whatever he tells them is true.

They don't seem to notice the inconsistencies and contradictions between what he says and what's actually happening in the world, because they live in an echo chamber and have been trained to reject any information coming from outside.

My neighbor used to write software for a small company that produce wind turbines.

He told me they do not call them windmills they are wind turbines.

Totally agree, he puts out enough hot air to do a small windmill

From Google AI Overview

Traditional Windmills:
Function:
Early windmills were primarily used for grinding grain into flour (gristmills) and for pumping water.
Structure:
They typically consist of a tower or building with sails or blades attached to a horizontal or vertical shaft.
Operation:
Wind turns the sails, which in turn rotate a shaft connected to machinery like millstones or pumps.
Modern Windmills (Wind Turbines):
Function: Modern windmills, or wind turbines, are designed to generate electricity.
Structure: They are larger and more aerodynamic than traditional windmills.
Operation: Wind turns the turbine blades, which drive a generator to produce electricity.
Scale: Wind turbines are often grouped together in wind farms to generate a significant amount of power.
Key Differences:
Purpose:
Traditional windmills focused on mechanical tasks, while wind turbines primarily generate electricity.
Size and Aerodynamics:
Modern wind turbines are generally larger and more streamlined than their predecessors.
Scale:
Wind turbines are often part of large-scale power generation systems (wind farms), while traditional windmills were typically smaller and more localized.

Has Trump actually toured China?

I know he went during his first term, but it's obvious that you can't make blanket statements about a huge country when you don't know what you are talking about and simply do a fancied up tarmac visit.

China is the global leader in wind energy, with a staggering 520 GW of installed wind power capacity by the end of 2024, accounting for over 30% of the world’s total. This includes both onshore and offshore wind, with onshore dominating due to its earlier start and lower costs, while offshore is rapidly expanding, particularly along the 18,000 km coastline with an estimated potential of 1,000 GW. In 2023 alone, China added 75 GW of new wind capacity, and in the first half of 2024, another 25 GW, driven by ambitious national targets and the phase-out of feed-in tariffs.”

(Here in NM - south of me - the construction is underway for the largest wind farm in USA - unfortunately, the power it generates will be used in other states)

The SunZia Wind project in New Mexico, currently under construction, is set to become the largest wind farm in the United States and the Western Hemisphere upon completion in 2026. With a capacity of 3.5 gigawatts (GW), it will dwarf the current largest U.S. wind farm, the Alta Wind Energy Center in California (1.55 GW). Located across Lincoln, Torrance, and San Miguel Counties, SunZia will feature over 900 turbines—674 GE Vernova 3.6 MW turbines and 242 Vestas V163-4.5 MW turbines—spanning a million acres. It’s paired with a 550-mile, 3 GW HVDC transmission line to deliver power to Arizona and California, supporting up to 3 million homes. The $11 billion project, developed by Pattern Energy, has secured $11 billion in financing and will generate significant economic benefits, including over 2,000 construction jobs and $20.5 billion in economic impact for New Mexico and Arizona.[](https://www.eenews.net/articles/biggest-us-wind-project-is-under-construction-in-new-mexico/)[](https://www.fastcompany.com/91007521/ge-is-building-674-turbines-for-the-largest-wind-farm-in-the-u-s)[](https://www.power-technology.com/projects/sunzia-wind-project-new-mexico-us/)

While China leads globally in wind energy (520 GW installed capacity), SunZia’s scale is a notable step for the U.S., though it faces challenges like environmental concerns and transmission constraints, similar to those in China’s grid.[](https://interestingengineering.com/energy/largest-clear-energy-project-us-sunzia)
