Trump said Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer ― who is Jewish ― has abandoned the Jews and become a Palestinian, then compared Schumer to Jon Lovitzs lying Saturday Night Live character Tommy Flanagan, complete with an impression.
He described the B-2 bombers that flew to Iran for last months attack, saying they went skedaddle and then tried to define the word skedaddle.
Do you know the word skedaddle? he asked. It means skedaddle.
Then the conversation took a golden turn as Trump spoke at length about the rooms mouldings and whether they would look better with gold leaf or gold-coloured paint.
If you paint it, it wont look good because theyve never found a paint that looks like gold, he said. You see that in the Oval Office. Theyve tried for years and years. Somebody could become very wealthy, but theyve never found a paint that looks like gold. So painting it is easy, but it wont look right. And the question is whether or not we should gold leaf it.
He asked some of his Cabinet secretaries for their opinions on gold paint versus gold leaf.
FUCKING NUTS. Where is the media????????????????????

Mericans sticking with their team and they're bringing their kids up supporting the same team, no matter how many games and seasons they lose. They don't pay attention to this stuff or care. Only way they ditch it is if the team shuts down or moves to another city. So this menace either has to shut down or move to Moscow.

(30,355 posts)are not the same, and neither are their members, so I don't think the behavior seen in Trump supporters can be extended to 'Americans' in general. American Democrats, by and large, are not the unthinking, unquestioning "loyalists" you seem to describe.

(1,418 posts)I did not say we did.
They literally have flags and banners and hats and coins and and and etc.. My point is they are unwavering in support of the team they chose. They see everyone else as the other team and they want to own us no matter what it costs them and are willing to endure just about anything. And the GOP uses that team mentality to do whatever it wants. They will still fill their stands with folks wearing cheese hats regardless of how awful they are.
On edit, yeah I said Americans. Editing to mericans.
whathehell
(30,355 posts)but using the term 'Americans' turns "they" into "we", so I'm afraid you did, purposely or not, include all of us in your description, the cute little "edit" notwithstanding.

Sometimes I wish we were a little more loyal to our 'team'.
I think it is good we are willing to criticize and even expel those that do actual illegal and immoral things - Bob Menedez and Eric Adams come to mind recently.
But I think some Democrats are too anxious to hold our politicians to possibly unreasonable standards or turn against them for a single error or compromise. For me Al Frankin and Gavin Newsom fall in this category. I know not everyone will agree.
And I turn on Democrats too. I voted for John Fetterman. I don't regret the vote, because Oz was the other choice and he would have been worse. But Fetterman has been a real disappointment to me.
Critical examination and holding our elected officials, regardless of party, to high standards is ultimately a good thing.
But it isn't as successful a political strategy as blind loyalty.
I wonder if there's a way to find an ethical, effective, happy medium?
Or maybe I'm just grumpy today.

He is so out of touch. Americans are drowning in Texas, getting kicked out of nursing homes, getting rounded up like cattle and unable to find jobs all the while the pervert president is wondering about getting that special "gold" look on the woodwork.

And like that lady interviewed some years ago, magas are crying some variation of her "he's hurting the wrong people" as the universal clue by four hits them upside the head and their pea brains begin to dimly understand the consequences of their vote for the idjit.

(22,205 posts)I just don't understand how THE PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED FUCKING STATES can be this obviously impaired with so little attention being paid to it by most of the major media. Or rather, I don't understand how the media, not to mention the entire GOP portion of the U.S. Congress, can still be so terrified of a doddering old man who probably needs help tying his own shoes these days that they are still willing to dance to whatever tune he decides to play. It's just ludicrous!
