DENIED FUNDS…

Patrick and Gov. Greg Abbott (R) were both in office when that application was submitted in 2017.

Texas mayor hurls state's GOP officials under the bus over denied sirens

July 8, 2025

Kerrville Mayor Joe Herring Jr. told MSNBC that he's grieving after his town was hit with feet of rain in a short period. But he's also speaking out about the town's efforts to prevent such a large loss of life.

Host Katy Tur cited Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick (R-TX), who claimed that the state would fund a flood alert system along the Guadalupe River. Her comments came as news to Herring.

"Your report is the first time I've heard that the state is going to help us have sirens up and down the river," the mayor said. "The truth is, our community, or the county government, looked into that in 2017. And from what I heard, their grand application was denied. So, I wasn't in government at that time, but it sounds like we talk about it, we ask for help, and we were denied before."

Looking forward to them both humiliating themselves during trump's trip to Texas, to make political hay out of the tragic flooding deaths. Shit-for-brains Ted Cruz will probably add to the festivities. It ought to be one big shit show, from beginning to end.

and troops along the Rio Grande. Good grief man, don’t you know where you live? Texas only cares about killing human beings not saving them.

Seriously, how incompetent and stupid are the public officials in small town Texas?

I’ve always said Texas MAGA won’t do anything until this craziness affects them.

Watching Abbott tell Texans yesterday there are 160 people missing nearly did me in. Right now searchers are looking all the way from Hunt to Canyon Lake for remains about 125 miles.

This not over. Too many prominent people lost their lives on July 4th.

Are disasters like this and Chantal going to undo Trump? Maybe not one huge disaster like Katrina but the constant drip, drip, drip of floods, tornadoes, wildfires, and hurricanes with “limited government” will wake these folks up. Or maybe not…
