conservatives killed the texas flood victims

https://www.texastribune.org/2025/07/10/texas-kerr-county-commissioners-flooding-warning/

In 2021, Kerr County was awarded a $10.2 million windfall from the American Rescue Plan Act, or ARPA, which Congress passed that same year to support local governments impacted by the pandemic. Cities and counties were given flexibility to use the money on a variety of expenses, including those related to storm-related infrastructure. Corpus Christi, for example, allocated $15 million of its ARPA funding to “rehabilitate and/or replace aging storm water infrastructure.” Waco’s McLennan County spent $868,000 on low water crossings.

Kerr County did not opt for ARPA to fund flood warning systems despite commissioners discussing such projects nearly two dozen times since 2016. In fact, a survey sent to residents about ARPA spending showed that 42% of the 180 responses wanted to reject the $10 million bonus altogether, largely on political grounds.

“I’m here to ask this court today to send this money back to the Biden administration, which I consider to be the most criminal treasonous communist government ever to hold the White House,” one resident told commissioners in April 2022, fearing strings were attached to the money.

“We don't want to be bought by the federal government, thank you very much,” another resident told commissioners. “We'd like the federal government to stay out of Kerr County and their money.”

and this was after years of discussion and warnings about the dangers along the guadalupe river

It wasn't just the commissioners, it was the residents who spoke up against taking the money, too!

"“I’m here to ask this court today to send this money back to the Biden administration, which I consider to be the most criminal treasonous communist government ever to hold the White House,” one resident told commissioners in April 2022, fearing strings were attached to the money.

“We don't want to be bought by the federal government, thank you very much,” another resident told commissioners. “We'd like the federal government to stay out of Kerr County and their money.”

I hope someone goes back through the minutes of that meeting to find out who the two residents were that spoke out against taking the money!

We'd like the federal government to stay out of Kerr County and their money.

There's so much wrong with those statements. It's hard for me to understand how these people can just reject money that would be used to make people safer. If the flood warning system was in place down by the river, they might have been able to save all those lives.
Arrogance and stupidity...a terrible combination. In this case also a deadly one.

The airwaves need to hear that the so-called conservatives kill innocent people, imprison innocent people, and hate over half of America, and are now destroying our democracy. The ONLY things that get through to the stupid half of this country is repetition, and shouting.

It is up to we, the people, to put pressure on these media outlets the same way Republicans did to get them to be biased in their favor to begin with. It might not work given their corporate interests inherently favor Republicans to begin with, but it has to be more productive than continually telling Democrats to do things they are already doing.

Fri Jul 11, 2025, 12:30 PM

First of all, not a single Republican voted for the ARPA. Not one. Despite that fact there was never any talk that I'm aware of about steering the funds towards blue states or Biden voters. Does anyone think that if this were done now by Republicans that these funds would not be distributed via loyalty test? It seems unthinkable, but that is a very real possibility in today's political environment. As we've learned, every accusation is an admission with the MAGA crowd, and fearing there were "strings attached" to the ARPA money tells us exactly what they would do.

Democrats truly want to help all Americans while Republicans seem to want only to punish all Americans--including themselves--except for billionaire Americans and corporations because all that is holy and good apparently flows through the almighty dollar.

Secondly, it was $10.2 million. Not $10.2 billion or any other outrageous figure. If you identify a need but you don't like the proposed funding source you don't just say, "forget that need we identified. We would rather just go without." No, you find funding from a source you don't hate. There are plenty of them. Exxon pulls in $4 million per hour and has its world headquarters only 286 miles to the east in Houston. Did anyone ask them if a lifesaving warning system to protect a Christian girl's camp would be something they might want to put their name on?

But Republicans decided that it was far better to put kids' lives in danger rather than use the available funding handed to them by Democrats--because that would be taking dirty communist money--or to find an alternate funding source. Apparently the tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of school children. That's freedom in MAGA America.

Coincidentally, the behemoth $1.9 trillion economic stimulus package certainly contributed to the stubborn inflation that ultimately had a huge impact on the 2024 election. While it did so much good and helped fuel a strong economic recovery and "soft landing," too many Americans were unable to see the 'we didn't have a recession' forest for the 'I'm paying too much for eggs' trees.... No good deed....

And now they're trying to sell us the fix by selling us even shittier politicians. Fox is 100% the problem. They've been a malignant tumor in DC for the last 25 years and they seem to get worse with each passing year. They've gone nuclear on us since they got their toy taken away from them when Trump was booted in 2020. Unless we deal with Fox, it's going to be same shit, different year.
