Teachers moving from California or New York to OK will have to pass a batshit patriotism PragerU test to keep license

Red state will require new teachers pass PragerU 'America First' test to keep license
Relocating to Oklahoma and want to keep teaching? You might have to pass this test

The state Department of Education is currently working with PragerU to develop the assessment for teachers "relocating from states with progressive education policies," which they must take in order to get a license to teach in Oklahoma. The new assessment will evaluate educators on three main aspects: knowledge of the U.S. Constitution, "understanding of American exceptionalism" and "grasp of fundamental biological differences between boys and girls," according to a news release about the new assessment.

The goal of the new assessment is to ensure educators align with OSDE's commitment to an education "rooted in truth, patriotism and core values," and aims to instill "pride" in the nation's history among students.

We’re sending a clear message: Oklahoma’s schools will not be a haven for woke agendas pushed in places like California and New York," said Superintendent Ryan Walters. "If you want to teach here, you’d better know the Constitution, respect what makes America great, and understand basic biology. We’re raising a generation of patriots, not activists, and I’ll fight tooth and nail to keep leftist propaganda out of our classrooms."

OSDE said it was still assessing which states of origin will be required, but said California and New York would be included. The exact makeup of the test is also still under development but will be finalized in the coming weeks. The assessment will then be implemented immediately upon completion, according to OSDE.

Not, I think, on the wish-list of any teacher worthy of their training.

would be the price of housing. Sure, teachers make more in CA but not enough to afford to buy a home in most places. That being said, in decades of teaching in CA I do not remember one teacher moving to OK or even considering it.

They know too much about it to teach in OK. The Republiklan Party hates the constitution and only picks and chooses what they like. Such as only a few words out of context on the second amendment. They do the same thing about the bible. They only pick and choose a couple verses and ignore the inconvenient rest of it

My point is that if the tests were honest and true, then the only people who would not pass are the ones suffering from Faux News induced brain damage. It sounds like these tests, in actuality, check to see if the teacher can’t think, doesn’t know civics, and has no understanding of basic biology

Zero.

Teacher pay in those blue states is close to six figures. Last I heard (which I confess was a few years ago), teacher salaries in OK barely hit $40k and many/most work a 2nd job

https://apnews.com/general-news-961ecf8c165e4c15897e8a4ce7bc230c

After a day of instructing first-graders at Oologah-Talala Public Schools in Oklahoma, Melinda Dale puts on a janitor’s uniform and begins cleaning the very same school building.

“I usually do it right after school,” Dale said, “because working with first grade all day, I tend to lose my energy pretty fast.”

Dale, who has taught for six years, earns $32,000 a year as a teacher. She spends about 15 hours a week on the janitorial work, which at $10 an hour which nets her nearly a quarter of her teachers salary…

I guess the first lesson for teachers is to study which state to cross off you list of potential areas to put down roots.

I think the average IQ of Oklahoma educators must have declined by between 5% and 10%. Any teacher or professor seeking to move to Oklahoma, and expecting to stay in their profession, is either very brave, or else someone I would never permit near my children under any circumstances, let alone as their educator.

They seem to make OK a mecca to teach in, but they are still not going to get a crowd pounding at their doors to enroll as teachers in OK. Not with this attitude of other states, it's kind of snobbish, eh?

Classroom sizes are growing in some places, in others, everyone is trying to get their federal vouchers for their Christian schools. Of course, with that POS Watters in control sooner than later all schools in OK will be "Christian".
