I don't see him resigning, though. To him that would be an admission of guilt, and he won't ever admit guilt. He's the type person who will die with the lie.

They will do ANYTHING to stay in power, including martial law and rigging elections if they can.

Competent military leadership will they have. They have fired all the knowledgeable men and women, both in the military and the intelligence community. This certainly weakens their command and control structure. Additionally, the troops that served under competent leadership, especially line and field officers, may be more loyal to their oaths and former commanders than the DUI hire's appointed lackeys. Thus, martial law may literally blow up in their face. I am certain there are more than a few honorable men and women that have plans for Nazis like Miller, Homan, and Vought.

It remains to be seen how many mid-level officers and enlisted men would refuse such orders. Many in the military are rightwingers.

I don't expect martial law to be implemented competently, or that every soldier would follow orders to shoot protesters.

But I do expect this fascist regime to do everything it can to hold onto power, and they have plenty of allies in charge of state governments.

It's going to get very ugly and dangerous heading into the midterms.

Once he's gone, they'll still exist but they'll be fighting each other to hold on to whatever remains of Trump's base.

He gave the dark or shadow work permission to show in people. Once he goes it will withdraw back to the shadows. This is all because this country just sweeps under the rug all the things that is wrong and doesn't want anyone to see. No acknowledgement or healing and denial.

His only real talent is a carnival barker, selling snake oil to fools. That, and wielding power to intimidate.

He didn't get to where he is without poweful billionaires using him for their own ends. Trump leaves most of the actual work in the hands of others. The machinery of this fascist regime functions without him.

The Republican congress is compliant largely because they're on board with the dismantling of the federal bureaucracy. Much of what they don't want is Trump’s lunacy on tariffs and foreign affairs, which President Vance would curtail.

There is a great deal of money and power behind the fascist agenda. Trump doesn't embrace much of an ideology besides his own personal wants. He's not the driving force behind Project 2025.

It doesn't especially matter if those who voted for Trump don't much like Vance. Hell, Trump’s polling numbers are underwater and likely to get worse while this Epstein saga continues.

Polls aren't power. Fascists hold the power, and they will do ANYTHING to maintain their grip. They have plenty of Republican allies in elected office, including state governments -- and the Supreme Court, for that matter.

I'm not predicting whether or not they will fully succeed in destroying American democracy.

I'm saying they will pull out all stops to maintain their grip, with or without Trump.

Elected a demented malignant narcissist to be our President even though he was a convicted felon and found guilty of sexual abuse of a woman. He gets into office and immediately starts to pursue an agenda that is cruel and driven by an animosity directed at anyone or anything he perceives as a threat. All of this driven by greed and fear which is manipulated to perfection by the soulless GOP. Their only mistake, they elected a quickly deteriorating child predator who is now imploding by the second. Hoping birthday card will be released soon as it tells you what kind of man Trump truly is.

While I don't actively hope for it, I do tend to think watching him stroke out on national tv or clutching his chest as he's teeing off on the front nine will be one of the least surprising things I'll have ever watched him do.
