This is what starvation looks like in Gaza

Gaza City — The head of Al-Shifa hospital in Gaza City said on Tuesday that 21 children had died across the Palestinian territory in the past three days "due to malnutrition and starvation." "These deaths were recorded at hospitals in Gaza, including Al-Shifa in Gaza City, Al-Aqsa Martyrs Hospital in Deir el-Balah and Nasser Hospital in Khan Yunis ... over the past 72 hours," Mohammed Abu Salmiya told reporters.

United Nations Secretary General Antonio Guterres warned Monday evening that "the last lifelines keeping people alive are collapsing" in Gaza, and that there were growing reports of children and adults exhibiting symptoms of malnutrition.

Abu Salmiya told reporters that new cases of malnutrition and starvation were arriving at Gaza's remaining functioning hospitals "every moment," adding: "We are heading towards alarming numbers of deaths due to the starvation inflicted on the people of Gaza."

In a statement issued Tuesday, the U.N. human rights office said many people were arriving at Gaza's hospitals "in a state of severe exhaustion caused by a lack of food. Others are collapsing in the streets. Many more may be dying unreported ... These deaths and the horrendous physical and psychological suffering caused by hunger are the result of Israel's interference with and militarization of humanitarian assistance."

How can we allow this to continue? Why does anyone tolerate the lie that there is no genocide in Gaza? What have we descended to?

I hate looking at images like that. But we must force ourselves to look and see. Jim__ Jul 2025 #1

The deniers must be confronted and face what they have enabled.

To turn away or deny is to be complicit. WHO would be complicit in this??

The Integrated Food Security Phase Classification, a global hunger monitoring system, announced today the “worst-case scenario of famine” is now unfolding in Gaza.

Famine has arrived.

Israel is still denying, blame-shifting. Worse, it is STILL not facilitating the delivery of aid and playing games with the UN to slow it down. It's a truly genocidal regime. But its mask has fallen off for the world to see.

No more kid gloves with Israel. The world must unite and stop this - whatever it takes!

It's famine. Confirmed today.

Also a Holocaust of the Palestinian people.

Never again?

Some genocides are permitted. That's what we've descended to.

I will not look away. I will bear witness. We all must.
Our obligation is to care and to risk whatever we must to help our brothers and sisters. We have to fight against this not just for Palestinians, but for our own sake, for our own humanity!

“We must all learn to live together as brothers or we will all perish together as fools. We are tied together in the single garment of destiny, caught in an inescapable network of mutuality. And whatever affects one directly affects all indirectly. For some strange reason I can never be what I ought to be until you are what you ought to be. This is the way God’s universe is made; this is the way it is structured.”
~ Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.
