Is anybody here still watching Morning Joe?

I ask because I have a question: we said that Joe and Mika went to Mar a Lago twice to "kiss the ring, bend the knee" and was thus allowed to keep their show. But I am watching the show closely and I see them slamming Trump every day. I am not seeing what we expected: lots of explaining away Trump's incessant march towards destroying our democracy and installing his own autocracy.

What happened between their visits to Mar a Lago and now?

My guess is that recent events show just how forcefully J and M's original rationale for bending the knee have backfired and now they see that they are in a different ballpark they weren't expecting. Trump has proved "unmanageable" to them. They are figuring that it is better for them to oppose Trump than go along with him. They helped give him power and now they are desperate to see it controlled.

I kind of enjoy the irony as guest after guest slams (rightfully) just about everything Trump is doing.

What on earth were they thinking? Were they THAT stupid?

My guess is that they have had to reverse course on Trump: no more "explaining away" his transgressions. It is probably because their guests, for the large part, have proven stubborn about opposing Trump. He has made things so much worse, because of his lunacy and evil intent, that they cannot whitewash him any longer.

and critical of TSF, et al. If it is one who is on to skewer the Democrats, well, Joe the A'hole comes out as though the intervening years since he was in Congress (and which he reminds us hourly... ) had never happened. And if it is a right-wing-leaning guest, then he becomes a pretzel trying to find good things to say about the administration.

So, what of Mika? Silence. I cringe now when she does those segments on "empowering" (supposedly) women--her "Know Your Value," which has become nothing more than a forum to highlight the monied business elite among the women she knows. (yes, some were seemingly entrepreneurs and deserve some lauding, but it would appear few were ever without substantial financial backing from someone and few have any evidence of being "disadvantaged" growing up). I once would have applauded this, but it has simply become an attention-garnering effort for Mika, IMHO. Repetitive and in this time of women being decimated by Trump, Republicans, and all their ilk in every way, not one word, not one bit of organized effort, to fight back. Just a forum to pat these successful women on the back as they appear to have divorced themselves from politics and pulled the ladder up to their gated houses on the high hill. I respected her father and her brothers (from what I know of them) and used to really like her, but all this seems designed to allow her to avoid the sticky issues that come up with what Joe continues to say and, I suppose, to avoid becoming a target again herself to Trump and his boorish comments.

So, I can't really agree that they have changed more than on a superficial and highly self-serving basis.

I agree with the comment above that suggests fewer people are watching. I listen via Tune-In radio while walking my pup when there is no better podcast or musical option early in the morning. Otherwise, I'd be joining the "non-watchers.'

And you can be sure that as soon as they get a talking to, they will shift the narrative to go back to ask kissing.
I made the mistake of believing that they were on the side of democracy, and we all know how that turned out.
My husband and I used to watch them every single day and after the election, we both made the decision to not watch any news whatsoever. We do all of our independent research and cross check and verify everything that we read. Network TV and cable TV are no longer a part of that.

And then just do extensive searches to verify whatever the information is.
I love to research things though, so it’s kind of enjoyable in a way to look up information and to try to ascertain the validity of any particular claim.
There’s just so much false information available that it it’s no wonder people live in an alternate reality. Completely aside from politics, I am fed Facebook posts regarding shows that I’ve watched and I can 100% say that many of these so-called articles are completely fabricated lies. It’s crazy that these magazines are able to post information without any kind of penalty.
As part of my job, I have to be on social media quite a bit and the stuff that’s out there that people believe is wild. It’s no wonder that the world is the mess that it is.

"What Price Fascism"?

Tuned in for a few seconds this morning. Saw them talking about "car companies expect big gains under Donnie Dipshit"???

It just shows that there is a "price" we are willing to pay for Fascism.

Their entire show....HELL! The entire fucking American "press" can just fucking ask; "what price will you lose your soul for"?

"What price will you accept to fire up the ovens at the concentration camps?"

I don't know about you, but that Nazi fuckstick could give me a billion fucking dollars, and it wouldn't be enough for my fucking soul'!

Watching the "press" normalize this fucking monster, is like going to dinner at Jeffrey Dahmer's house, because his risotto is to die for.

Even after all we know, I guess we are still stuck in the; "well, Hitler did some good shit for the economy" loop.

Good to know how fucking cheap American Democracy is.
