Nicolle Wallace Just Went There

She made a statement why Democrats are polling poorly.
She said Democrats are behind their voters, they need to catch up.
She said Congressional Democrats are not the tip of the spear fighting Magats.
A few do get it: Cory Booker, Bernie, Jasmine, Chris Murphy, and a few others.

Hold town halls based on the issues. Do some screaming. Keep Epstein Gate on the front burner.
Have the courage to say that Trump and Epstein were best friends for a decade.

Unwashed Democrats are ready to fight.

Matthew Dowd? The same Matthew Dowd who coined the term flip-flopper in reference to John Kerry? He also pushed the idea that the war hero, John Kerry, could not be trusted with foreign affairs. He then he turned traitor against the Democrats and joined the republicans and worked for George W. Bushes campaign and presidency.

I guess he “supports” democrats now? Talk about flip flopper.

She’s also caring, which personally I think is hard to fake. Her new husband — I have no idea what his politics are or were as his reportage doesn’t announce it to me.

But back to Nicolle — my first real intro to her was the night she and Steve Schmidt (who went on to help found The Lincoln Project) were assigned to cover the Republican Convention and Trump’s nomination. I watched quite a bit of the proceedings, and definitely caught the speech I call American Carnage.

She and Steve Schmidt (who may or may not be related to her husband, Smith being a common name in several languages) sat in the darkened, deserted ballroom doing after-analysis, and they both were stunned, gut-punched, gobsmacked, poleaxed — choose your adjective. Nicolle was virtually speechless. Steve started talking about the US Constitution and how violative of it Trump promised to be — and this hardbitten GOP pol literally choked up.

As for Nicolle, she’s been a Never Trumper all along, and that’s no secret. As the years have gone by she’s gotten more and more open about how much she hates Trump and what her former party has become.

Perhaps the reasons for your hatred have worn themselves away — or perhaps you simply like holding on to what people used to be.

And yet, my friend would not even consider voting for Hillary. 1) Hillary is a woman. 2) Hillary is a Democrat. 3) Her husband already told her how to vote.

All of her friends were the same way.

Tue Aug 5, 2025, 08:56 PM

I think polling is useless as long as we allow them to get away with cheating. We've been doing it since at least Y2000, and probably prior to that. If we agree that most everything they accuse us of is simply projection, then they've been cheating for a long, long time. Only now, they don't care if they do it out in public and to our face. They feel (and it seems rightly - that we're powerless to fight them). Differences in polling between what was conjectured and what turned out to be, are symbolic of the difference that cheating causes. But we've never dared look at it that way, because the magas have screamed bloody murder about "cheating" after each and every election, even when they WIN the election! Powerful Democrats don't want to be seen as the same type of ilk as these inveterate victims of republicanism, and so they downplay or keep silent altogether about possible cheating. And they HAVE to shake off that fear. This is one place where they're falling far behind us. We're not being radical about it - we're being reasonable and rational. But there's no one to hear us, it seems, and what does get out is declared too often to be CT. This is too frustrating to a LOT of people especially while we're also trying to fight the fascism on our own.

I'm a big user of the term "hearts and minds" while also finding it a pretty useless meme. Face it, we're never going to win the heart OR mind of any dedicated maga. And so, this holds us back more than it works in our favor, IMO. YMMV.

Nicolle Wallace only said that the voters are ahead of the politicians. If that statement offends people too bad, I agree with it.

Look at the demonstrations you say, yet how many were organized by Indivisible and numerous other Democratic organizations. How many protests were organized by the DNC in comparison.

Nicolle and Dowd rattled off 8 or 9 Congressional Democrats who are leading the charge, their point was, where are the others?

It should be all hands on deck organized by the DNC, Chuck Schumer, and Hakeem Jeffries.

If you hate Nicolle Wallace, what did Rachel Maddow say last night? Anyone? She said it is way past time to prepare for the upcoming autocracy, we are there now.

We should have taken a stand back in March for the CR vote. Every House Democrat, but one from Maine, voted no for the CR. The House expected Senate Democrats to also vote no, but they were kneecapped because they were afraid that Democrats would be blamed for a shutdown. To counter that narrative every Congressional democrats could have held town halls explaining that they could not allow the Big Ugly Death Bill to pass. They could have done town halls and put faces on the harm the bill would cause. Instead, a minority of Senate Democrats gave Trump everything he wanted, including the Big Ugly Death Bill. The people were ready in March to fight but a minority of Democrats were not. Democrats got absolutely nothing for passing the CR, they could have held out for protections for our social safety net. Too Late now. Time Mattered.

The Magat party is openly protecting a monstrous sex trafficker, I would not be surprised if the Supreme Court grants her appeal, then again, living in a country club isn't that bad.

If it's true that the death penalty reduces murders, which I do not believe, then sending sex traffickers to country club prisons should encourage more people to do sex trafficking. Has anyone asked Blanche, Bondi, that question?

... that should be mentioned. People will give negative answers when the Party representing their views is not "winning" (and, currently, Dems control no branch of government). I remember all the "bad polls" for the ACA. Some of the negative responders were because "Obamacare" did not go far enough... but the angle was always that most Americans "disapproved" of improving government health care assistance.

Wed Aug 6, 2025, 07:55 AM
Aug 2025

She has stated as much over and over (I watch or listen to her and all of the 4-11 MSNBC shows everyday). She and her guests have been hammering the economy ever since the inception of the Big Billionaire Bill hard, stressing that Democrats need to grab that and run with it. Every poll (I hate polls as much as everyone else) is showing the economy is front and center, more than this Epstein flash in the pan. Don't get me wrong, as long as they, her words, "keep whining about it" Democrats should keep the volume up on it. But, and I hate to say it but it really is true this go around, "it's the economy stupid"

Nicole isn't a crystal ball nor a political genius. She does have creds, albeit for the other side. She's won hard fought election battles on the ground importantly using successful Republican tactics, like them or not, that were very successful. She's worked in the White House. She knows how the political system works from the inside, from the bottom to the very top. Experience few have.

Like you said she went there. But make no mistake, she believes the economy is where Democrats will win, not Epstein, respectfully

This is the correct line of attack. Left-leaning media look disingenuous when they bring up the Epstein list now all of a sudden. All of the Epstein files have long been a pet-project of the conspiracy wing of the far-right. Q and Pizzagate rolled right into their delusion of a group of elite pedophiles visiting Epstein Island. Most new sources basically ignored it during Biden's term, so bringing it up now just as a way to "hurt" Trump is pretty transparent. The only people the non-release really bothers is the MAGA right, and neither CNN nor MSNBC is going to be able to drive a wedge between them and Trump. In fact, the more they attack it, the more ineffective it will become. Attacks from the left only harden MAGA- attacks from the right are what splinter it.

Meanwhile, there are many people who can't give two shits about this when they're too busy trying to pay their bills, find childcare, and ensure that their elderly parent or young children have a possibility of a good future without being a crushing burden.

But the saying goes: "Republicans are paid to win and Democrats are paid to lose."

Not sure how accurate that is if you consider Biden, Obama and Bill Clinton.

There are people in the Trump administration who know the truth about Trump and Epstein but their high paying government jobs are more important to them than telling the truth. If Bill Clinton had a "grab 'em by the pussy tape" Republicans would have demanded he be jailed to await trial. But with Trump they just look the other way, even after he was convicted in 2023 of sexual assault.
