From the polls I've seen three quarters of Americans disapprove of the Biden/Trump consensus on Gaza. If three quarters of the American people have no effect on Washington policy, it's a given that no post on DU will have any effect. As for your question, of course Hamas bears responsibility. But when a society is reduced to abject poverty, as the Palestinians have been by the oppression of Israel, the rise of gangs, militias, and warlords is inevitable. The UN recognizes the right of an occupied people to fight against their oppressors. That doesn’t exonerate terrorism against civilians, but Israel has had Gaza in a stranglehold for decades, and enjoys the largesse of the US MIC, and when you get this kind of extreme asymmetry in warfare the oppressed will use any means at their disposal. Israel, on the other hand, a state that would not have been allowed to consolidate under the Geneva Conventions due to their seizure of Palestinian territories and natural resources, is committing war crimes.

It's Israel's plan of ethnic cleansing, always has been. Netanyahu was enabled, but it was always for Israel. The end goal was to "take over Gaza" as just announced. They're not doing it for Trump.
