Obviously there was a skirmish.
No indication what caused the skirmish.
Juveniles were arrested for unarmed carjacking, but there is no indication that the vehicle was actually carjacked.
Big Balls said made a comment about taking his vehicle.
Why didn't Big Balls just drive off?
Charges against carjacking may be dropped and this might be an assault case. However, LE does gang control and a group of unsupervised juveniles out at 3 am is a public safety threat.
They will use the carjacking charge to pressure the juveniles to identify the other members of a likely gang and drop the carjacking charges.
LE likely already knew the two that were arrested.
Things like this happen everyday all over the country.

Which it does. Yes, of course that's according to Coristine. In any case, the poster I was responding to said that they were in a car. The only statement we have disputes that. They can't be in a car and pushed into the car at the same time.

There's no doubt that Coristine could be lying. He almost certainly is. But you said They were in his car. Why do you say that? What makes you believe they were in his car?

The police did not witness that "they were not in his car," so that is not stated as a fact in the police report, it is just reported as what Coristine said to them. What the police witnessed is that the woman was in the car and Coristine was outside fighting with the teens. That's the only point I was trying to make to you.

I surmised they were both in the car together at some point, if not at 3 am then certainly when they parked there...if she is his "significant other" and they came there together.

And especially not drinking. Being drunk and roaming in the DC streets is asking for trouble anyway. So the kids capitalized on it ( I don’t condone what they did but just saying). Bet the cops didn’t give BB a breathalyzer test!

But in Washington, D.C., the current curfew law for juveniles only applies to those 17 and under, so he was not violating curfew. I don't know the age of his "significant other" though....

I have not been able to find a full copy of the police report. Do you have a link where you were able to read the police report?

It is my understanding that accessing the full police report is restricted restricted due to privacy concerns and ongoing investigations. However, some details of the incident have been widely reported in the media, based on information released by the Metropolitan Police Department, so that's what I've been going by.

When officers drove up, the juveniles fled on foot.
Police apprehended two juvenile suspects.
Suspects had assaulted Big Balls prior to arriving on the seen.
Big Balls girlfriend was sitting in car and was not assaulted.
Big Balls phone was apparently stolen.

The rest is "fill in the blanks".

This is not an "exceptional" event. We don't know what happened between Big Balls and the group before the skirmish started.
We don't know if the group intended to car jack his vehicle or if there was something else involved.
Things like this happen all over the country every day.
They aren't headlines.

I live and work in DC. There aren't groups of juveniles going around attacking white people for no reason.

And that's when they approached? Tactically speaking it's a smart time to attack. His attention is on her, the car is unlocked so if they are at the driver's door or even at the passenger door, you can't lock the doors while one is open. So if he shuts the passenger door to hit the lock button, then he can't get in the car.

Sure it could be made up. But you've got police reports and arrests and so far no allegations that the arrest was racial profiling and the idiot looked pretty beaten up in the picture shown.

I appreciate the posting of the actual police report earlier in this thread. Those that immediately want to demonize this kid just because he may not have the same politics as us should really rethink their life choices.

First, "Big Balls" was out at 3 am with his girlfriend. He didn't "happen to see a girl being attacked and rush to her defense." They were together from the beginning.

The whole story seems very fishy. It's certainly not a reason for Trump to take over DC.

For one thing, the police response indicates that policing in DC seems to be working well.
