that it's all about the crime. They are not going to stop until something else stops them, because they have NO ideology. It's all about continuing to commit crimes, to cheat the system, and to cheat on everyone else, meaning the taxpayers. They have to do it this way because they don't have the talent and ability to play the capitalist game the way others do. In trump's case, he can't even play the democratic process because he doesn't have the interpersonal communication skills to do so.
This is why Johnson never did a thing about trump's crimes and only enabled them. All the stories and crap he spins is just window dressing to hide the fact that he's as big a criminal as the rest of them.
The ironic thing is that a lot of us here believe they cheated the system to get into office and once it is all said and done, I think we will find out that is the case.
That is what the OP is all about: they will either kill the goose that laid the golden egg or they will die trying.

He had a lot of help - from his party, from large corporations, from other special interest groups, from billionaires and from the media controlled by them - and from foreign countries like Russia
This monster of a Republican party has a lot more heads than Trump.
Do not for one second kid yourself that the end of Trump ends the trajectory the Republican party has the country on. You'll be extremely disappointed.

However, as the winds turn against 47 -- and they are turning -- self-preservation will start kicking in. It becomes:
