Four pillars of conservatism: What conservatives really want.

"Watch what they do, not what they say." These four "watch what they do" principles are the pillars of good conservative government in their view. These are the things that government must do to be good conservative government and, in fact, are pretty much the only things that are even legitimate for government to do. These are not high-minded thoughts from John Stuart Mill or Alexander Hamilton or even blather from Ronald Reagan; these are what they actually do and want to do. Watch what they do. The Pillars of Conservatism (PCs) are:

PC#1. Give money and power to the rich.

PC#2. Screw the poor, the weak, and the ordinary.
"Weak" includes all non-powerful minorities.

PC#3. Wage eternal war.
This pillar has frayed a little bit around the edges in recent decades because their polarization and hatred of liberals and Democrats has gone so far that they are now sometimes willing to criticize something about a war if a Democrat is president. But they still want eternal war.

PC#4. Impose a white supremacist, misogynist, fundamentalist theocracy.

The Big Ugly Bill (BUB) is a complete manifestation of these principles, with emphasis on PC#1 and PC#2. They are the whole point of the BUB. They are the reason billionaires and billionaire corporations were so supportive of Trump in the election--they wanted their trillions in tax cuts for the rich.

Anything that government does for all the people or most of the people or even for many of the people is evil because it violates PC#2. Anything that government does for the benefit of anyone who isn't rich is evil. Government is supposed to serve the rich. Government "for the people" is evil in their view.

They have hated Social Security since it was created because it does things for ordinary people. Government should be giving that money to billionaires.

They have hated Medicare since it was created because it does things for ordinary people. Government is supposed to serve the rich.

They hate the Consumer Finance Protection Bureau because it serves ordinary consumers by protecting them from predatory corporations. In fact, they hate every kind of consumer protection because government is supposed to serve giant corporations and allow the rich to do anything they want.

I could go on and on with the the ways they hate that government sometimes serves ordinary people but that's enough to make the point.
