The next Republican president

With the Supreme Court codifying unitary executive dogma, the Court’s conservatives have told the people to be careful whom you vote for president – if you elect an authoritarian despot and fascist thug like Trump, then expect that president to ignore the Constitution and the rule of law and engage in an excessive abuse of power with impunity, reflecting the will of the voters.

In essence, the people have only themselves to blame if they put an authoritarian despot and fascist thug like Trump in power, and don’t expect the courts or Constitution to come to the rescue; indeed, the only recourse left to the people is the political process, a General Election, and the impeachment process – but the former is useless in a president’s second term and the latter has been rendered useless the cowardice of Senate Republicans.

Hence the next Republican president: Trump has established executive branch precedent, a template of corruption and abuse of power future Republican presidents can use to rule like an authoritarian despot and fascist thug – and it will happen again, just as it was wrong to believe there wouldn’t be another Nixon, where we now have worse than Nixon, with Trump.
