Charlie Kirk talks Epstein, urges Trump administration to act

https://www.axios.com/2025/07/15/trump-epstein-maga-charlie-kirk

Charlie Kirk, one of the most powerful and influential MAGA podcasters, devoted Tuesday's podcast to extensive interviews about Jeffrey Epstein — a day after he and several other MAGA figures suggested they would take President Trump's advice and move on.

Andrew Kolvet, the show's executive producer, told Axios that Monday's viral clip had additional context: "Charlie is not done talking about it. The ball is in the administration's court to find a solution."
Why it matters: The MAGA blowback over the handling of Epstein evidence is a rare instance of the president's base bucking his wishes.
On Tuesday's show, Kirk urged the Trump administration to fix the Epstein mess by disclosing more information.
The conclusions from the Justice Department and FBI that the disgraced financier did not have a "client list" and died by suicide have prompted anger from Trump-world, often with Attorney General Pam Bondi as their top target for punishment.

For anyone not clicking the link
this is from July 14:

Over the weekend, conservative media figure @charliekirk1776 hosted the @turningpointusa Turning Point USA Student Action Summit, where the young conservatives in attendance were up in arms about President Trump’s handling of the Jeffrey Epstein affair.

On Monday, Kirk said is backing off of the issue. It comes after the president reportedly called Kirk over the weekend.

“Honestly, I’m done talking about Epstein for the time being,” Kirk said on the Monday episode of his talk show. “I’m going to trust my friends in the administration. I’m going to trust my friends in the government to do what needs to be done. Solve it. Ball’s in their hands. I’ve said plenty this last weekend.”

54. Who had motive?

The obvious thing would be a person who was so angry and distraught with this gathering fascism and the lack of a Constitutional response, that he felt he had to act alone. That's certainly a possibility. We saw that scenario with the killing of that UHC executive. Certainly possible, but I'm not sure Kirk would be the first target.

With any killing, one has to look at personal conflicts. Lots of people are killed every year for things that have nothing to do with their day job. Love triangles and such.

But we should not ignore other possible motives. Everybody knows Trump is not living forever, and with his recent health and mental issues, there seems to be a real scramble within the MAGA world to be Trump's successor. We see real fragmentation. Look at Massie, Greene and Pence for three recent examples of people trying to define themselves separately from Trump.

The two I would look at are Stephen Miller and Steve Bannon. THese are both hard core Nazis who are certainly evil enough to orchestrate something like this. And they would very much see Kirk as a threat to their prominence in the post-Trump world. The motives are strong, but the modus operandi doesn't seem very likely. If I were Bannon and Miller, I would hire the very best professional hitman available. Instead this looks like a very amateurish job, leaving the gun and footprints behind.

So we'll just have to wait.

If this, in fact, was the motivation for his assassination (obviously, no one knows yet), one might conclude it was done by someone seeking to protect Trump.

In Russia, dissidents and contrarian opinions have a tendency to fall out of windows or from high places or be poisoned or imprisoned.

In America, its not surprising to see gun violence befall one who advocated for 2nd amendment absolutism - even if it meant people would die; though I assume he thought the people dying venn diagram would not include him (an overcompensated, bigoted and hateful white man espousing the values that support and define white male hegemony for profit and notoriety).

In the end, whether Trump-Epstein is related at all or not, the world did not suffer a great loss today, it just witnessed a core law of nature occur - when you plant seeds of hate, you raise a flower of fire; and if you live in the way of it, those flames consume without deference or designation or favor. If one doesn't want to die by the flames, one should not douse themself in gasoline and play with matches while smoking cigarettes and trying to lit a charcoal grill.

That does not excuse anyone from throwing lit matches at people (or shooting them either), but it also does not absolve the guilty of their own culpability for their own demise.

Kirk has these big events, but he isn't surrounded like that all the time. He doesn't have Secret Service. There have to be plenty of opportunities where a professional killer would be able to get to Kirk with fewer wild card variables like all the folks/potential witnesses at an event like this. If you're pro, you want to get rid of the target where it can't be witnessed.

So the person who did this wanted it seen.

What their motivation could have been, I can't say. But they wanted to make a splash.
