Just heard on Chris Hayes - Reagan judge calls the policy of masked ICE operatives

“Indelible obloquy" - a perfectly appropriate phrase

Indelible obloquy" refers to a lasting, unforgettable, and deeply damaging public disgrace or shame that is extremely difficult to overcome, often resulting from severe public condemnation and criticism for one's actions or conduct. "

"To us, masks are associated with cowardly desperados and the despised Ku Klux Klan," wrote Young. "In all our history we have never tolerated an armed masked secret police. Carrying on in this fashion, ICE brings indelible obloquy to this administration and everyone who works in it."

Young concluded this thought with a quote from former President Abraham Lincoln's second annual message to Congress in 1862: “We can not escape history ... [It] will light us down in honor or dishonor, to the latest generation.”

is one of my favorites!

Edited to include the full Lincoln address.

“The dogmas of the quiet past are inadequate to the stormy present. The occasion is piled high with difficulty, and we must rise with the occasion. As our case is new, so we must think anew, and act anew. We must disenthrall ourselves, and then we shall save our country.Fellow-citizens, we cannot escape history. We of this Congress and this administration, will be remembered in spite of ourselves. No personal significance, or insignificance, can spare one or another of us. The fiery trial through which we pass, will light us down, in honor or dishonor, to the latest generation.

We say we are for the Union. The world will not forget that we say this. We know how to save the Union. The world knows we do know how to save it. We, even we here, hold the power, and bear the responsibility. In giving freedom to the slave, we assure freedom to the free — honorable alike in what we give, and what we preserve. We shall nobly save or meanly lose the last best hope of earth. Other means may succeed; this could not fail. The way is plain, peaceful, generous, just — a way which if followed, the world will forever applaud, and God must forever bless.”

Abraham Lincoln - December 1862

Nor do all his rabid mafat followers and his goons like miller and drunkseth.

History will judge them all a fascistic mob.

This is surely a great phrase, almost like morality weighing in.

Any cop who feels the need to hide his face while doing his job is not only doing something wrong, he knows damned well he's doing something wrong.

That should be grounds for immedicate dismissal.

History will not be kind to those in the regime and those who enable it.
