Do you think the Democrats should cave in on the shutdown, or only co-operate once SNAP and healthcare is resolved?

Personally, I think they should keep up the pressure, but do way more to let the people know that SNAP is not because of Democrats, and healthcare cuts are a bridge too far and will lead to more poverty and more deaths to pay for tax cuts for Trump's rich friends.

per month for my disabled husband and myself on the 20th of the month. I only have $100 left on my account, just like every month, only now i can't see any relief in November and by December people will be desperate.
I can try to scrape by, but there's going to be a lot of people who cant. The point is is that I won't care what happens to healthcare by December 15th, and neither will 42 million starving americans.

Come December 15th people like yourself who say they don't care now will certainly care then. And what grievance do you suppose they will have? My guess is they'll be griping that Democrats didn't protect them, and not a one of them will understand that they didn't protect themselves. We need to stand fast and do what Democrats do - fight for those who cannot fight for themselves.

I'll be honest - I have never believed shutting down the government was a legitimate negotiation ploy (I despised it when Newt Gingrich did it in '95 and I haven't changed my mind since) and frankly, it doesn't work - eventually the pain becomes so acute that the side holding up the reopening of the government has to fold.

On one hand we have tens of millions of hungry people subject to a political party playing a game of King on the Hill. For them it goes beyond infighting in politics, for some it means devastating hunger. There are also tens of millions who will go without the most basic healthcare that the most wealthy country in the world can easily afford. For them it isn't only an inconvenience, it's life or death.
I won't say that one side is holding things up, but I will say one side has so little regard for the American public that they place ballrooms, private jets, and banquets above the well being of those less fortunate than themselves.

Don’t get any benefits via SNAP, low/minimal impact to me on Healthcare costs. So I am solidly behind creating the line in the sand and taking the fight to the Repukes.

That being said, there are families much less fortunate. With that my adult children floated an idea yesterday. Cancel Christmas this year, reallocate the funds to needy families near us to partially offset the actions of this admin to partially offset the struggles of those immigrant families.
