'Veterans Against Trump' T-Shirt. Then He Started Walking My Way.

Most people are always going to get a little nervous when a cop locks eyes with them and starts walking over. Even if you’re just sitting in a coffee shop, minding your own business, breaking no laws ... wearing a “Veterans Against Trump” T-shirt.

My brain sized him up before he even reached my table. Police officer. White. Middle-aged. Beard. Military tattoos.

I made a snap judgment: Trump supporter looking to pick a fight.

He stopped, smiled, and said, “Hey brother, I like your shirt. Thanks for your service.”

https://www.msn.com/en-us/lifestyle/mind-and-soul/i-saw-a-cop-looking-at-my-veterans-against-trump-t-shirt-then-he-started-walking-my-way/ar-AA1PVz40?ocid=hpmsn&cvid=690e1d9aee394e06ae6a4d7c21cb725b&ei=45

I'll sometimes wear my Veterans against Trump shirt, along with my USMC Retired ball cap while making deliveries, I get a few negative comments, but for the most part, I get nods, winks and compliments.

We need all the testimonials we can get, especially from those who've served. Every single one is worth cherishing and maybe even copying. To keep. To appreciate. To feel the deepest gratitude for the service and the sacrifice it represents. And to remember.

In the war zone of Portland (or I will be as soon as I find it.)

Actually Portland is a deep blue zone, which explains the attention we get from Mango Mussolini and his goons.

No anti Trump shirt, but I get a of positive feedback for my Navy hat.

By the way, my Grandson is a jarhead, just reupped for his second hitch at LeJeune. He says that you guys do all the work, and us sailors just provide transportation, kind of like an Uber driver. I told him that's true, but we have bigger guns.

During my long career, we frequently worked with the Navy Seabees, a bunch of great and professional sailors, I have nothing but the deepest respect for Navy.

After the movie, Top Gun, came out and people started wearing those ball caps, a retired Navy Submariner friend of mine started wearing a ball cap with an embroidered picture of a Boomer with the words "Bottom Gun", so, yeah, you're right, the Navy does have the bigger guns.

Thank you for your service and tell your son, Semper Fi and Oohrah.

that the military and all the government and country are his personal property. I forget whether 2016 or 2020 when they were even more fired up, one of them in his late 20s or 30s with teh red cap on *ran* up to me in the parking lot of the grocery store, ecstatically yelling thank-you-for-your-service! and sticking his whole arm out as he ran to shake hands. I said, "No Trump for me."

He stopped dead in his tracks and yelled, "No America for you!" and stormed off to his monster truck (there I go assuming/judging by his monster truck).

I do put political yard signs out in front of my house, but I don't do bumper stickers or political shirts/hats. Too much of a target.
I always try to get my yard signs that say "Veteran for .....", or something to that effect.
The last two 'No Kings' protests I attended, my signs stated that I am a Veteran, and I wore a Veteran-type shirt.

would lower their prices a bit on their anti-tRumpie T-shirts, lots of people can not afford $20 & $30 T-shirts.

If every one of us who wants him gone was able to wear a anti-trumpie T-shirt every time we're out in public
it would help us at the ballot box which is our ultimate goal.

When in public, just as at work, I don’t advertise my politics. Learned that lesson when Clinton ran against Bush the Elder: I had a Clinton sticker on my car. Guy parked across the lane, standing behind his car, has a Bush sticker. When the asshole saw mine, he glared at me, as if I’d just pissed in his cornflakes. I got back to my car after class to find my sticker was gone. And that’s tame compared to what some of these Reichwing flying monkeys are capable of.

Most MAGAts are just loudmouths, without the courage of their convictions, I’d bet. But you never know when you’re going to run into that ONE crazy asshole with a gun…

My shirt reads, "I served. Now I resist." It has an image of an upraised fist superimposed over an upside-down US flag. I wore it for my last visit to the VA hospital and got nothing but compliments and thanks.

I don't use my status as a veteran to gain discounts, it's a moral thing with me, I'm no better than anyone else who isn't a vet., whether it be a grocery clerk, construction worker, IT tech, etc.

If discounts are going to be offered, then they should be offered to all Americans, whether they served or not.

Should you ignore your birthday because 364/365 of the people don’t share it with you?

When I served, being on call 24 hours, I figured I made 25 cents/hour.

People get senior, veteran, and color tag of the day discounts at thrift stores. (Senior tuesday, Veteran Wednesday, and sometimes every day at some stores.)

but I just can't, because of what I perceive as my fundamental principles, use these discounts, don't get me wrong, those vets that utilize these discounts, God bless them and I 100% support them for their choices.

My other driver, she's US Air Force vet., uses these discounts, and I wholly support her for this.

May be nothing to a truck driver, but I'm 76 and these roads up here are a grand prix course in two lane blind curve roads.

I rarely take them up on the offer. Will try this year.

A deer totaled my 20-year old pickup. I got an SUV instead of a pickup cuz twice the price. I really wanted a Miata but no room for anything, and the Forester has enough zip to pass slowpokes on our steep grades. Uphill, too!!!

Your choice!
