Religious leaders demand "immediate cancellation" of "Merry Gothmas" festival in California - Friendly Atheist

Nov 29, 2025
A handful of religious leaders are demanding the “immediate cancellation” of Merry Gothmas, a family-friendly two-day festival in Ventura, California that blends together Halloween and Christmas. They say the festival should be shut down due to its “serious and deliberate offense” against Christians. The reality is that this event is inclusive, wholesome, and has nothing to do with Christianity.

...cease trying to run the world according to patently ridiculous fairy tales. That's the "seriously and deliberately offensive" part IMO.

more publicity than the organizers could possibly have dreamed of. Hope the organizers of the event are ready to sue the pants off the signers of that letter, their organizations, and the city and county of Ventura should the event be cancelled.
