Just got my explanation of benefits from Social Security, explaining how much "more" I will be getting, and how much more Medicare will cost.
My monthly deposit is actually going to go down by $12.00. Negligible, obviously, but it sure doesn't feel like an increase. What a bunch of BS.
Maybe this shouldn't piss me off so much, but it does.

(29,182 posts)In the previous years, it's been close, but this is the first time in my brief experience with the system that the monthly amount will go down.
Just doesn't feel right.

(18,012 posts)I will probably be paying a 'Cotisations sociale' on my pension and investment income, though it won't be that large an amount because I have an S1 (English pension benefit that covers social charges). Our 'mutuelle' costs me 130 euros a month, but the premium doesn't increase with age.

(78 posts)Closer to $55 less per month after the "increase". The COLA should take into account the rise in Medicare deduction...
