https://futurism.com/future-society/elon-starship-most-importantSpeaking to influencer Katie Miller wife of Donald Trumps controversial deputy chief of staff on a painfully awkward podcast appearance, Musk waxed poetic about SpaceXs latest rocket developments.
-snip-
Its the first time that theres been any rocket design, where full rapid reusability is possible well, full reusability at all is possible, or full reusability at all is possible, Musks word salad continued. This is the first design where a reusable rocket is one of the possible with success is one of the possible outcomes.
If there are historians in the future, theyll look back at Starship and say its one of the most profound things thats ever happened, he boasted. You can think of historic events as, where would they fit in the evolutionary hall of fame? You got things like single cell life, multi-cellular life, capturing a mitochondria and then also on that scale, probably in the the top ten, is life becoming multi-planetary.
-snip-
There just arent very many things that are in the top ten of the evolution of life, where you can basically say where you can evaluate any given civilization or any given life form as, yknow, on that, that scale, Musk continued. So life becoming multi-planetary, its in the top ten.
He's getting even.crazier. And I would not be at all surprised if this was at least partly AI psychosis, with him spending a lot of time talking to a chatbot encouraging these delusions.

And to little Charlie, with whose 15 years older mom I had some great times, I bequeath the country of Nambia. Title only passes from my estate upon confirmation that he has planted one hundred acres of covfefe trees. Until such confirmation has been notarized, he may not be crowned king, and remains the crown prince.

It doesn't even make sense. Without life, there would be no historians to study major events.

(23,010 posts)In 1953, former NAZI, Project PAPERCLIP import, and father of the V-2 and Saturn-V rockets, Dr. Werner von Braun, published Project Mars, a science fiction novel to generate interest in rocketry and manned space exploration. Von Braun's book also mentioned the name of the man who would lead a 10-person "Kabinett" to administer Mars. Coincidentally or not, Von Braun named the fellow, Elon.

This really, really bugs me.

An excellent article from The Debrief:
Did Wernher von Braun Actually Predict Elon Musk Would Rule Mars Over 70 Years Ago?
by Tim McMillan
The Debrief, January 28, 2025
In the annals of space exploration history, a curious coincidence recently captured the imagination of science enthusiasts and conspiracy theorists alike.
On January 27, a social media claim went viral, alleging that Wernher von Braun, the famed German-American rocket scientist, had predicted a leader named Elon would guide humanitys colonization of Mars. This claim originates from a passage in The Mars Project, an obscure science fiction book by von Braun in 1948.

However, a closer examination of the factsand the historical context surrounding von Brauns workpotentially offers a more nuanced and ultimately less mystical explanation for the bizarre coincidence.
Snip...
In the text, von Braun envisions a Martian society with a political structure akin to a technocracy. The leader of this society is referred to as Elon, a title rather than a proper name.
The government of Mars consisted of ten men. At its head was a governor elected by the general population for five years at a time, whom the Martians called the Elon, von Braun wrote.
Why von Braun chose the name Elon for the leader of the Martian colony in The Mars Project remains a subject of speculation. One plausible explanation is that von Braun, who was once a member of the Nazi Party and came to America through Operation Paperclip, likely deliberately avoided German words commonly associated with leadership titles, such as Führer, due to their apparent connections to Adolf Hitler.

Some passages seem to have struck and stuck.

A self-fulfilling wannabe Martian dictator uh leader displays a non-traditional gesture of salutation.
