Putin publicly lied that he had captured Kupiansk. I personally came to Kupiansk to show the world that Putin is lying, Zelensky

(15,037 posts)And ... One should perhaps also remember - there also exists a fairly straightforward brand of old fashioned peacenik ... War is bad. End of. (it goes out of favor a bit when people are looking at the face of true evil and tyrants. but the zealous are usually able to rationalize their way through most dilemma)

(59,746 posts)We should be flattered that were worth the attention.
For a couple of years, when anything negative appeared on DU about Monsanto or their suspected cancer-causing pesticide, Roundup, one poster would always show up to defend them, no matter how ridiculous their argument (there is no solid proof of a connection between water and dampness, or some such). As soon as Monsanto was bought up by Bayer, that poster vanished. I guess the department that paid his bills was deemed no longer worth the expense by the new German masters. At least it gave the rest of DU the closest thing possible to solid proof that commercial/political interests far above our pay grade consider DU worthy of their attention.
Then there are individual crusaders who only show up to insist that Al Franken is evil or Putin is a saint, or some other ridiculous cause that is neither logical nor true (full disclosureI have never met Putin personally, but I know people who have).

(15,037 posts)they are certainly leaving a very small footprint. (to the point where I can honestly say - "don't see it." )
There is obviously wide variety of opinion on a lot of subjects. And a good number of denizens that just plain like to argue ... But lauding Putin .. ? Hmmm.

(59,746 posts)We have Ukrainian neighbors, one if whom is a combat veteran of the Soviet invasion of Afghanistan. I tried to hold back with my comments on Russia supporters, so as not to get overly involved in emotional discussions.
